Personal Best at Keswick Parkrun #19

It must have been running 2 parkruns in a week that did it. But I squarely aced my PB at Keswick today. 31:22 up from 32:10 a few weeks back. Thank you Sharyn and Maria for the race to the line!

146 31:22 VM65-69 54.99% M 88 NHS Couch to 5k New PB! 19

More significant for me was that age-weighted score, as I have just one year left in the VM65-69 group. I have set my target at 60%, so this is a pretty good step up, nearly 55% up from 53% recently, but from 40% last June when I started Parkrunning.

Not a bad week at all, New Years Day Parkrun 5Km, an interval training 3.2Km run on Thursday, and 2Km Friday in the wrong clothes (I decided to run, when I was out delivering stuff). So a good 15Km week to start the year.

Happy Running.

Well done theoldfellow, what a brilliant time! You are well ahead of me now.... and on a harder course. Only 1c temperature today and didn’t feel I ever got warm so I’ll put an extra layer on next time it’s cold.

I’ve been given a better time than my watch says so a bit of error in there somewhere. But having done scanning last week I know how difficult it is to get it perfect every week.

Just for once I remembered to click the watch, so I am pretty sure they got me right on this one.

I usually turn out with 3 layers on under my wind-proof for the drive and warm-up. Then take off layers until it seems cold, just before the start time. That seems to work quite well for me. But I run hot. Being almost bald, I can regulate my temperature quite well with the beanie hat!

Almost there, 31.22, that is only 1.63 short of a sub 30 minute 5k which you WILL do very soon now, well done on your PB for your 19th Keswick Parkrun.

Brilliant Oldfellow! Well done on your new PB! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎉🎉🎉😃🏃‍♂️❤️

I’m quite looking forward to going up an age category next year too - who’d have thought it, Parkrun kind of makes us WANT to get older! 😂😂😂

I was lying in bed on Saturday morning thinking 'I feel fitter now than I did at 30.' Maybe I'm getting younger?😳😳😳😳

Good stuff me old! 👍

Mine is probably best described as “unmemorable” 😖 (with sore calves)

Great running... congratulations on the PB and the progression from 40% to 55 is impressive... enjoy chasing down that 60, you’ll get there for sure.

Well done! I got a PB today as well. A lot slower than yours but more than I could have ever hoped for! 37 mins 16 seconds. So happy!

It doesn't matter about the absolute time, does it? What matters is that you did your best, and it was better than last week. On the up and up, Ang!

👏👏👏

Hey this is brilliant, you are defying the rules of age here!! Can you explain the percentage thing to a non park run (as yet) person? Thank you 😊

theoldfellow profile image
theoldfellow in reply toCatMo13

It's the percentage of the world record time for your age group.

support.parkrun.com/hc/en-u...

The reason why it's important to me, is that I spent 50 years never running a step, sitting on my arse in front of a computer screen or at a conference table. So I am comparing myself with guys who have run all their lives. And I'm catchin' ya! 😈

Oh thanks for that, now I can see you really are doing well ! 👍 Yep know the feeling of sitting in front of a screen all day - makes running all the sweeter 😊
