Keswick Parkrun Magic

Just back from my usual (7th week in a row) parkrun at Keswick. Photos are forward and back at about 1.5Km in ( or 1.5Km from the finish on the way back...)

You may just see a Lady in her wedding dress running up ahead with a man in an orange shirt, it was their 50th Anniversary. Way to go! 👏

As for me I tried going faster at the get go today, and although I had to Jeff a couple of times, this did seem to improve everything. I sprinted the last 100 meters and overtook loads of runners! (but not the Happy Couple)

Position: 182 of 236

Time: 34:19 a new PB!

Age Weighting for VM65-69 50.27% Yay! Another target reached.

Happy Saturday beloved Runners! ❤❤❤

Wow - hope we’re still around and doing Parkruns for our 50th anniversary! (The image would be a bit different, though, as there’s no way we’d be running anywhere near each other! My other half thinks he nearly hit 21mins today!!! 😂😂🏃‍♂️.................🏃‍♀️🙄😎)

Well done on your PB, oldfellow! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😃🏃‍♂️❤️

Glad to hear you’ve discovered the joy of the sprint finish! I did it among a close pack of finishers for the first time today, causing me to over shoot, then have to back track to workout my order for the finishing bar codes! 😳😖😃❤️

Still waiting for our official times.

I’d not heard of the term Jeffing until reading it in a post yesterday. Has me wondering who the original Jeff was, and did he keep stopping to walk on purpose or not! 😂😂😂❤️

I like the 'Jeffing' word. It's our secret running code for having a rest.😉 Actually the science is good, just a short rest to lower the heart rate (for us biological pacemakers anyway) and let the other organs catch up.

Ah, I see, so there’s a theory behind it! As a “non-biological”, I don’t really understand this desire for lower pulse rates...I feel so much better when I can persuade mine to go higher! 😂😂❤️

Well done theoldfellow, a PB and a beautiful day by the look of it. I love the way people dress up on celebration runs. Enjoy the rest of your magic plan week.

"Jeffing" refers to the run/walk technique devolved by Jeff Galloway which is normally on a fixed number of minutes (or seconds) of running and walking... think C25K on all your runs jeffgalloway.com

Interesting read - thanks for the link.

Thanks for the link. I'm still going to use it to mean, 'I had a short recovery walk in the middle of a run' though.

I’m sure Jeff won’t mind! 😂😂

Well done on another PB on your latest park run, from the photos your 5k course looks very good to run along although after rain could be a bit muddy. Could it might be with all your PB's that you might run a magic sub 30 minutes 5K soon

Great run old chap :-) , and those pics (noting you've photoshopped out the rain again) really make me want to ensure our next trip oop north includes Saturday morning in Keswick - out and back along the disused railway line I assume, but do you start off towards Braithwaite or Penrith?

My PR today was more of a struggle than I hoped (26'12") - perhaps I should take a week fully off to sort my leg out, W6's 9k on Wednesday might not be a great idea and any idea of sprint intervals as part of the short run on Monday is clearly well off limits :-( . Looks like I may need my weeks in hand …..

Hope your leg settles, UTS. Better to rest it than make it worse. The 9k isn’t going anywhere, so will still be waiting for you when you’re fully fit. ❤️

My OH did his first sub-21 min PR this morning!!! 😳 Apparently me starting C25k then B210k has enabled him to run faster and further than ever before without getting injured so far...🤞 So just listen to Eileen’s advice, she probably knows best! 😊🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️❤️
