Since I got ear/headphones many years ago I have always used over the head headphones and that was before I started running, those earphones which just go into your ear are the most annoying thing ever under the sun, unless I am sitting still, say on a car, bus or train I prefer over the head proper headphones.
Ewww I'd never thought of this before! Blimers did you have to have it removed medically from your ear? I use cheap wireless ones, so am not much help really 🙈 Hope someone can recommend something for you 😊
I’ve had some Trekz Air bone conduction headphones for about six months now. They are quite pricey but they are great for being able to hear your surroundings and your music at the same time.
Only downside I’ve noticed is if you are by a constantly busy road you can’t hear your music very well but for anything else they work well.
Thank you I will check them out. This running lark was meant to be a cheap way to exercise but I always seem to be able to find something else I need?????
The wired ones are cheap I’ve managed with them for several years. They get on my wick at times but I can’t believe the stupid price of some of this gear
I used to use in ear earbuds but did not like them as they kept falling out. I switched to some over the ear ones. The ones I have are I think called Marathon 2 by Linkwitz. They hi over the ear with a rubber covered wire and around the neck of the neck. Because they are not in the ear but over the ear they do still let outside notes in. I can for example have a conversation with a passerby without removing them. Only problem is they are dear prof not waterproof.
I have these ones too, they are great! Yes you can still have a conversation and hear other sounds around you. I ran with mine today in the wind and rain and they were fine. Very good value
Hoping Aftershokz are under the tree for me this Christmas. I find in-ear uncomfortable but more worryingly I almost went out in front of a car when crossing at a junction because I couldn’t hear.
Bone conduction headphones are definitely a good thing for safety. Feel much more comfortable running on country roads with them as you can always hear cars coming.
Another vote for bone conduction! They're safer in traffic—and for me as a lone smallish woman running about the place by herself—and they're allowed in the vast majority of races too. They're my joint second favourite bit of running kit. First place goes to my legs.
