My 8K run for W5R2 done tonight. Felt really good and feeling super confident for that 10k goal.
Was a little frustrated with my ear phones mind. It would seem I left them in work when I ran in on Thursday so had to dig out an old pair. Turns out that old pair only works in one ear so ran with one ear open, the other ear listen to music and NRC coaching.
Took a little while to get used to (hate only having one ear in) but after 5/10 minutes I kinda forgot about it. In fact it was kind of refreshing to be able to hear the outside world, not enough to make me want to do it again, but maybe enough to make me think Aftershockz Bone Conducters might work for me afterall.

Another great run. Since graduating c25k I dumped the music, tried again for a couple of longer runs but find I dont miss earphones falling out 😉 good luck with trialling aftershock - is it going on your Christmas list?
Mrs N keeps asking what I want for Christmas, maybe I should put them the list, but I just see the price tag and it makes me nervous.
Christmas is expensive with 3 little ones so I always try to persuade her not to bother with buying me anything, I can buy my own stuff when our finances are a little less strained
Definitely not needed when having to stretch finances. We decided as extended family to stop presents for all but the little ones last year. Instead we all meet together regularly for a mealbor activity. Relationships and memories last longer than unwanted gifts 😀
I quite like only having the headphones in one ear, especially at night so I can hear clearly what's going on around me.
Pleased to see you ran 8K this week; I've noticed lots of people have skipped forward in the plan and run 10K early but I am scared of injury so I am sticking with the programme, and I thought I was on my own!
Regarding the headphones that sounds like a January sale purchase to me...
I know I can run 10K (I accidentally did it as one of my C25K graduation consolidation runs) but determined to complete the B210K properly so as to build up my stamina and fitness effectively, and then run 10k every week, not just as a one off.
All going to plan, I'll do a half marathon plan in January, hopefully building up to being able to run a half every week (is that even possible??)
see, it's this "accidentally ran 10K" that throws me - I feel every step over 5K But this one was better than the last one, so I suppose the training / plan is working!
Half a marathon every week, that is one heck of an ambition. Wishing you well, but equally there's no way I'll be joining you on that mission
It might be a rediculous thought. Even committing to 10K every week seems like a challenge, but then I thought committing to 5k would be too, now I see that as 'just a run'
I think the Aftershokz are brilliant. I have serious issues with in-ear headphones because for some reason they keep falling out of my ears (I must have funny shaped ears). But the Aftershokz just stay put and I have had no issues at all. Also, good to hear what's going on around you. Some races ban in-ear headphones, but bone conduction ones are allowed.
I bought mine on Amazon for £60 and think they are worth every penny.
My current £10 Sony wired earbuds fit perfectly, and once they're in I totally forget I'm wearing them. Sound great too (well for me anyway). The only thing I'm not so keen on is the wire. Occasionally I catch it on something and it either pulls on my ear or just feels right across my body as it wraps around to my back pocket.
I've tried a few Bluetooth options (mainly budget set, so that might be my problem) but I find I can't get them to fit comfortably and stay put.
Aftershockz look like a good option, but I'm really not sure. If I spend that much money I want them to be perfect, and from what I've read about sound quality and volume, I might be a little frustrated. Be great if I could find a shop that sells them so I can try before I buy.
I only wear one earphone as I have a very dodgy earole. On my iPhone there’s a slider where you can just have sound balanced to one ear. Proper useful Seems to work on any earphones too
