Hedgehog delayed play, and new shoes truly broken in

I was getting my running kit on this morning, looked out the window and there was a teeny tiny hedgehog pottering about in the garden, far too small to make it through hibernation. So, gloves on, managed to catch him and whipped him off to Cricklade Wildlife Rescue. The good news is that in the spring I can have him back!

Two hours later than planned I'm out the door for this week's 10k. And it was the best so far! Thanks to being delayed by Mr Hedgehog I avoided the rain, though the wind was gusting up to 30mph. I laughed out loud a few times at the thought of what I must look like - arms and legs flailing but no discernable forward movement at all!

The new shoes were great. Not only did I have no pain, but they coped with slippery grass and slimy leaves really well.

And I took a couple of minutes off my previous time. God I love days like these, and I wish you all as good a run as I had!

So glad you had a great run TC and I’m soooooo glad you saved the dear little 🦔. One of my all time favourite little creatures! How lovely you could help him! 🏃‍♀️🦔❤️

I love them too. We have 2 others that come to our garden, but they're far bigger - they're obviously snaffling the food we put out before little one gets a look in!

Can't wait to get him back! 🦔

Ah, that's so good of you Tartancat, rescuing that wee hedgehog. Great run too, knocking minutes off a pb!

Thanks sunshinefish. My previous best was in torrential rain - maybe bad weather is good for my stats!

Bless him, he was so small but very lively. I thought I was going to have to put my running shoes on to catch him!

Fantastic run Tartancat and how wonderful that you rescued a hedgehog, they're so rare these days. 😥

A great run Tartancat and a lovely mission of mercy. How brilliant that you can return it to your garden after hibernation. 🏃‍♀️🦔🦔🦔

Oak and Furrows is just up the road from me! How fab that your new shoes are working for you and they’ve dulled down nicely 🤣👏🏻

I did think of you when I drove up there, and also noticed how flat it was - lovely for running!

And I think I prefer my shoes in brown rather than navy and orange!

Aw thanks for thinking of me! I keep meaning to have a run around the Blakehill Nature reserve on a less blustery day 😁👍
