So....I've been thinking about getting some new trainers for a while. I visited the shop where I bought my trusty Saucony Omni 16s before I started c25k last May and they said that they still had some life in them (after 680km). However the heels were worn down and they said I could get these replaced if I wanted. Also the 16s have been discontinued π’. Hence a trip to the cobbler and what you see in the photo! It doesnβt look pretty but I guess the proof of the pudding will be in the running! π
I decided however to get some new shoes suitable for off-road to encourage me to be a bit more adventurous in my routes β so the other pair in the picture are Kalenji Kiprun Trail (no bright colours for me! π), together with a new pair of orthotic insoles. They are relatively cheap and apparently are also ok for tarmac which should be great for our parkrun. I gave them a 5k run yesterday and all seems good so far!
Happy running one and all!

680km in less than a year is a long way! I'm aiming for 700km this year. I'm slightly behind target, but there's the summer to go yet so should be ok...
I guess that proves you are a heel striker JP. The rest of the sole looks fine, so it will be interesting to see how you get on.
Happy trail running. UTS wore his new trail shoes on the Billy Trail yesterday, with the insoles, and seemed to be happy with them. Your parkrun is a mixture of rough and smooth so a hybrid is good.
Very resourceful Jonathan! π I never knew you could fix trainers. π€ Great idea. π And wow, what a lot of kms youβve clocked up! ππββοΈ
Iβm sorely tempted to buy another pair of Brooks Revel 2βs as I love them for running and casual wear too! Theyβre still clean enough to do that as I also have some trail shoes which I wear on the trails (funny that!) and my old Asics are good for wet weather. But I know the Brooks wonβt stay clean for ever - and theyβre so comfy and (according to my kids) cool, that Iβd like some more. π Bit extravagant? Maybe!
