For those that donβt read my ramblings, today was our parkrunβs first birthday and we were encouraged to run wearing onesies! Like I need anything to make me any slower! ππ
But I couldnβt not join in so I wore an elephant onesie! Also spotted were Tigger, Superman, Picachu, some bears, several unicorns and others!
I was hoping for a chilly morning, but it wasnβt. π³ The killer hill nearly defeated me today - OH MY WORD I was hot! But I persevered and slogged on up it, with people walking up it faster and my dog walking alongside me just to rub it in! Every fibre of my being was shouting βwalk you daft womanβ, but I had a stern word with myself and flat out refused. Iβm proud, as itβs the closest Iβve been to giving in on any of my runs to date, but I didnβt! ππͺ
The reward at the end was a plethora of cakes to choose from. I took along some choccy cupcakes which were clearly a hit as they all went. π
I love parkrun. My dog and I have made some good friends - having a dog who loves anyone whoβll throw her a stick helps! π Iβm tempted to try a different one soon as there are quite a few I could get to. One is flat - right now that seems very appealing!
So it wonβt be anywhere near a PB today, thatβs a guarantee, but what a brilliant morning! Hope you all had fun if you did parkrun this morning or another run today or tomorrow. πββοΈπβ€οΈ

It was an absolute blast SSF! Theyβre such a lovely bunch of people. And I got my time through which wasnβt as hideous as I thought it might be. Only a tad slower than last time. So thatβs encouraging! πββοΈπ
π€£π€£π€£π€£ Hahahahaha!!! I love it!! You are quite bonkers of course cheeky but brilliant and good for you for running in a onesie πππ³π€ͺ
It sounds like a brilliant event today, I absolutely love parkrun but I think the one I go to takes itself a bit too seriously π
Thanks Jelon. Yes I was really close to just having βa little walkβ, but I knew if I did Iβd never forgive myself, even though my running was physically slower than my walking pace up the hill! But I needed to keep going, and I did! ππͺ
Too right, TC, I was absolutely baking. The first couple of kilometres werenβt too bad, but the moment I hit the long hill, I had to undo the front to let some air in! π The things we do for our love of running! π³π
Looks like a great morning at your Parkrun good on you for not giving in even though you were roasting in that onesie. the pace doesnβt matter itβs the enjoyment you got out of it that makes the day. just think how many people in onesies were still tucked up in bed while you were out there doing it. Well done πππ
Thank you Runsome! Youβre absolutely right, it would have been far easier to stay home and slob about in the onesie, but whereβs the parkrun spirit in that?
Not that Iβll voluntarily run in it again you understand! π ππββοΈπ
Aaahhhh brilliant!!!!
Fair play to you Cheeky! π€£ππ€£
It drives me absolutely nuts if I wear a long sleeved tshirt and itβs warmer than expected, so that mustβve been one hell of an endurance test! Phiew!!! ππ Good on you for seeing it through πͺ What a great way to celebrate the first year anniversary. Birthday cakes at the finish too - Nice! π πβ‘οΈβ‘οΈ
I know TS, Iβm the same. I could happily have run in shorts and a running vest today. But no - an elephant onesie!! I was dead chuffed to have made it round though, and my time wasnβt as bad as I feared. Only a minute or so slower than last time - I thought it would be my slowest yet but it wasnβt! ππͺπββοΈπ
Badge of honour for the βladyβ ( l did put nutter but didnβt wish to offend π) in the elephant onesie. Well run for getting round with your elephant & dog cheeky. Looks like it was fun πππ₯
Haha OL, no offence taken at your first choice of word, really! π π I would have bought a doggie onesie too, but I didnβt want to make her too hot. It was so much fun (maybe not at the time I was slogging up the hill!) πββοΈπππββοΈππ
Iβm in Bristol Linda, and it was pretty misty to begin with - but disappointingly (for me) it wasnβt cold. I could have done with it being sub zero! But it was a hoot and Iβm glad I did it! ππββοΈππ
Well done! That sounds huge fun I bet you were roasting Itβs so difficult to run when you're dying of heat exhaustion, so well done πͺπππββοΈπ
Thanks MW, oh yes roasting was the word! I get hot running even wearing the bear minimum, so it was a challenge for me today. I wanted to participate though, so I dug deep! π πββοΈππ
I missed a trick there Ang, I should have volunteered this week, not last week! Standing around in a onesie is a whole lot different to running in one! πββοΈππ ππ
Thanks jayval, I was still the colour of a π when I got home. The hottest Iβve been running yet, and that includes August! Happy I did it though! ππββοΈπππ π
Well done Cheeky! You look fabulous in your ellie onesie! That's sheer determination to run all the way up the hill inside your elephant sauna ! Kudos to you! πππ
Thanks MS, sauna was definitely the word! The things us runners do! I undid the front and tried to pull it off my shoulders, but I had my phone armband on and it wouldnβt go low enough! π π π πββοΈππ
Raising my trunk to you Cheeky (π€£) for not keeling over whilst running up that hill!! I'd have boiled over and stopped functioning!π±π€£π Well done you, and cute pic π€π¦
Thanks Flara! I couldnβt have run any slower up the hill if I tried - but I was still running! I yearn for a lovely chilly run next, and I have a feeling itβs going to be judging by the forecast. Yesss! πββοΈπ πππ
Lovely pic cheekychipmunks, and well done for throwing yourself into the spirit of the first birthday run.
How great to all bring cakes too π π° π§. We have over 400 runners so itβs a bit too big for such lovely happenings, but little groups do it for major runs.
Thanks Dexy! Ours had over 400 yesterday too, but the serious athletes and super gazelles take themselves seriously and leave immediately (or run it again), leaving the rabble and snails to scoff cake! Marvelous! ππββοΈππππ ππ€ͺπ
Yes itβs quite disheartening to see the speedsters running back home while were still trying to complete the 5k. But I think I have more time to enjoy the view and the happenings and chat en route (something UpTheStanley doesnβt really understand) ππ
