With the Hexham 10k looming in 13 days time and not that many runs completed lately I have decided some serious prep is needed this week.
I ran one of my regular routes through Brunswick, Wideopen and Hazelrigg adding on a couple of kilometres around the village at the end to make up the 10k.
Right from the start things felt pretty good, I am on new medication for the asthma which is working a treat and I quickly found a good rhythm.
I managed to keep this up all the way, all my splits were under 7 minutes, the slowest km was the first and the quickest km was the last. Also the second 5k was quicker than the first so a nice negative split.
So all in all one of the good ones.
I'm sure there won't be many more sunny, warm evenings like this though and I'm now having to think about winter running routes as all of the roads out if Dinnington where I live are unlit.
Run happy, run safe.

Well done Chris, must feel great that new medication is working well.
I am doing the Leicestershire 10K same day as your race and trying to do some much needed prep but had a shocking 5k tonight very slow due to breathlessness/asthma. Back at doctors tomorrow for medication review, fingers crossed!
All the best for your run on Sunday, if tonight's result is anything to go by you'll be great
Well done Chris! I was thinking about you on my run last week. I felt a bit puffed from my faster start, then thought of you, and what it must be like to get so breathless because of asthma. I told myself to buckle down, what I felt was nothing compared to your condition. I'm pleased you have gotten something to help manage it, and your run was brilliant and quick too!
Awww thanks, the new tablets so far have worked a kind of miracle to the extent I haven't even used my blue inhaler in 2 weeks so fingers crossed it lasts. Have you been managing to get out for runs regularly? Xx
Not as much as I would like Chris. I need to make more time for myself to run. Since my hubby retired we go walking a lot, but he doesn't enjoy running like I do. I try to get out twice a week, just fun running though😊xx
Well done – that sounds like a perfect training run, easy start, steady pace and faster finish. Sounds like you don't need to do too much more to prepare for Hexham other than getting out for a run every few days! Good luck!
Lovely part of the world to run in 😃. Yes i think there are not many warmer evenings to come but no matter, running under starry skies is great. Where you are with big skies it should be amazing
That was an awesome run, you are certainly achieving brilliant times and Im sure you must be fit even though you have asthma, well done to you ChrisAllen1
