I delayed my 8km run until today and by midday, the deluge had passed and the sun was doing its best to burn through the clouds. So conditions were ideal – nice and cool and not much wind. In fact for the first 10 minutes my hands felt a bit cold and I was wondering what sort of gloves I need for running.
My aim was just to complete the 8k, so I set off slow and steady. After about 2k I settled into a good rhythm, around the perimeter of a field near where I live.
About 4k in I felt a slight twinge in my left ankle but it passed after a few hundred metres. I lost count of how far I'd run and was surprised when Runkeeper announced that I had done 7k! I picked my pace up a fraction and finished my 8k in 53m 17s. I'll complete week 4 on Tuesday with my 5k.
This programme is great. I'm really enjoying having a plan to follow again (like C25K) and the pleasure of ticking off the runs is immense. I'm pinching myself that I ran 5 miles in one go. I'm pretty sure that's the furthest I've ever run in my life!
