Hello everyone..I'm here again...just checking in....I haven't been blown away or washed down stream, well not yet anyway.
This morning was absolutely chucking down and the wind, well it was bending the trees sideways with the squirrels clinging on for dear life!! The birds however were having a great time...I think they were playing tig or pretending to be fighter jets!! I, on the other hand was trying to run...oh my, running into the wind this morning felt like someone had their hand on my forehead holding me back...and Mother nature had sent the police round to hammer on my womb door so I was feeling it this morning but I wasn't too...Todays run was a 10 min warm up walk/jog then a 6.44km run (with a bit of walking if I wanted) then a 10 min cool down walk/jog. I headed down to the canal as I thought it would be more sheltered there but I don't think anywhere was sheltered today...I even ran at the 'wrong' time of the day for me because I was waiting for the wind to die down...but I'd still be waiting so wouldn't have got my run in at all!! But, it's done now, another one ticked off...and even though it was chucking down and almost gale force I still took off my jacket...I get sooooo warm!!!
I just have to tell you this though, I wouldn't tell anyone else though...at about 5.32kms one of my FAVOURITE dance songs came on (I love dancing, when I'm at a party I hardly sit down!!) and I stopped to have a little dance at one of the locks and then I had a little Jeff that was more like a strut, I was clicking my fingers and everything.....if anyone had seen me God knows what they'd have thought...I was having a great time!!!! I absolutely love this running life...it makes me feel so happy!!
Hope you're all happy doing your stuff too? My quest for this week is going really well

Brilliant Bev! You are quite literally unstoppable! ๐ So pleased too to hear that you are enjoying your runs (come rain or shine it seems!) I had a beautiful little 4K run in the sun this morning. It was FLIPPING cold, and I even had my woolly beany on, but blue skies and sun. But! It wasnโt to last - it is now hissing down with rain and blowy. I have to go out later to meet a friend and I really donโt want to venture out!
I am still rehabbing my patella tendinitis, so only two short runs a week allowed for me at the moโ. But on the upside, it means I truly cherish those runs! I am also very active on my non-run days - strength work in the gym three times a week, and my daily yoga challenge. So all good. Knees responding well to this plan, so hoping physio signs me off and gives me the go ahead to run more in two weeks time. ๐
Well done Mummycav. Cold wind and rain up here too, but we can't let a little thing like that get in the way can we? I think I have become obsessed with hills! After 17 months having only an occasional brush with them, I now have to incorporate hills into every run for fear of losing ground! The first couple of ks are really tiring, but then, the down hill bits with short quick steps feel great!! One advantage is that the hill track drains really well. Some of the higher and lower paths are more suited to the bog snorkelling world championships at present! Onward and....upwards I guess ๐
Brilliant and funny post Mummycav. A run that's really enjoyable and can give you so much happiness is really great. If only everyone could understand how it feels to run. Keep being a happy runner ๐๐๐๐
Aw, I am addicted to good tunes and have to often stop myself when I'm in public but there was only me and the ducks around so I just let go...I think I even did a little leap in the air! ๐๐
I too can't help but dance as soon as I hear music so totally get where you're coming from...glad you enjoyed your crazy run and boogie ๐ถ๐โโ๏ธ๐ต.
Hoping I manage to stay on my feet for my run after work...that wind is not for letting up any time soon ๐ณ๐ช๐ฌ
You'll def understand then...I'm one of those who dances their way to the dancefloor and I make use of every inch of it...and I don't care if theres only me up!! I love a banger of a tune!! ๐
It's joyous isn't it...nothing like a dance around the house either, the moves I've busted out in the front room, especially after a glass of wine ๐
Haha, that Peter Kay sketch about the family wedding just popped unbidden into my head. Well done on braving the elements. Lovely sunny morning in Lincs so, having walked the dog, Iโm just about to nip out for my November 10k with the Spotify Sisters with Blisters playlist for company ๐ต๐ถ๐ต
I love this - I also love a boogie and certain tracks change my behavior when running its the best.
Don't envy you with that wind - but just think how much stronger that will have made you - I hope your next run sees you with some more favorable weather - you certainly have braved the elements lately x
What an inspiration - getting out with no excuses !
We could have a right disco alisonx ?!! Whatever song I'm listening to, like you, it changes my running...I was in my element this morning! Wind or no wind I was enjoying myself big time!! X
Brilliant Mummycav! I love a bit of running boogy. Itโs such a great feeling! Thatโs a great distance in those conditions too! Well done! ๐๐ฝ๐คฉโค๏ธ
Thanks Fabulous450 ...I canโt help a spontaneous boogie...this particular song gets me every time...ended up covering a very happy 8k...come rain or shine I was running today ๐ x
Thanks GoGo_JoJo ...I had a right disco going on in my head! Imagining myself on the dance floor when some of my songs come is just what I need to get me to the end x ๐๐ช๐ป๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
I forgot how close to the floods you are... fingers crossed it doesnโt get much worse or all the politicians will descend... they should all be kept away of course, people have suffered enough already ๐คฃ
Haha...if that lot turned up Iโd be running the other way...Iโd prob achieve some PBโs on the way!! Thereโs enough going on without that shower turning up! ๐๐๐
I was telling my daughter all about bonfire night and guy fawkes last week and she was really interested... I ended by saying โjust image how much bigger the party would be if theyโd succeededโ but sadly sheโs not old enough for that kind of cynicism yet.
