I am very, very happy today. You just can't wipe the smile off my face after that runπ. Thank you Ju-Ju! I honestly can't believe I'm running 8km.
3 things I learnt today.
1. I love the rain. It's SO much easier running in the rain. Not a chance I finish that run in the heat.
2. I commented recently about people flashing their car lights at me when I'm running.. It happened again today. This car was really flashing its lights and I thought he/she's definitely warning me. I looked down and my running top was absolutely covered in blood. It didn't look good at all. It was just one of my nipples bleeding π, but this particular top makes it look a lot worse than it is. Vaseline next time.
3. I lost 3 pound during that run. 3 POUND! I thought that was quite extraordinary.
Thank you! Well If I can avoid putting tape on my chest I will, because Tom Selleck would be proud of my hairy chest. But if the Vaseline doesn't work, it usually does, I'll tape my nipples.
The white surgical tape probably wouldn't hurt coming off, although sellotape would lol.
I hope vaseline works for you.
In the meantime, to heal them, there is a cream that nursing mothers use that is really good, I forget the name now, but your pharmacy should know it. I last breastfed 12 years ago but I remember the pain, and how good the cream was.
Sudocrem? That's pretty good, I have some. To be honest it's not painful, I can't even feel it. Just doesn't look very pleasant running around town covered in blood. π
Awesome run! Yes, the nip thing can be an issue, I found that on a long run earlier in the year wearing quite a tight jacket. Mine didnβt bleed but were very sore for a couple of days. I found NipEase to be the answer, but if you have hair in the area, best to trim or else they might fall off mid run (the plasters not your nips!!) and also removing a plaster from your nipple hair is not high on my list of fun things to do π
Great stuff 8k and especially enjoying it so much too. I do have have a silly picture in my head though of the wet, bloody t-shirt and your car driver thinking youβd escaped from a scary zombie attack or something ππππ
Well, I was only about 500 metres away from a hospital.. So who knows what they were thinking? Maybe they were offering me a lift to A&E with a bleeding nipple. π
Hey Hidden , well done on this long run...i love running in the rain too, its really liberating!! Ouch on the nipple??? I'd be taping it up...makes my toes curl just thinking about it π«
Thanks Mummycav... It wasn't painful, I didn't even notice it. Yes, I knew I wouldn't be the only one who loved running in the rain... It's refreshing, but there's something else, it's a similar sensation to running in the snow ... I think you've nailed it with 'liberating'.
Well done on a wonderful 8k run in the rain! I'm the same - would much rather be running in the cold and wet than on a really hot day! As for the soreness - my OH uses tape. Good luckπ
Thanks Dexy.. Yeah, It's strange because I was talking about this on here recently. Maybe I've finally discovered why people flash their car lights at me! π€
Happiness IS the name of this game, well, except perhaps the last few kilometres of the marathon but....ok, never mind.
All l can add to your three great points is:
1. Heat can be really 'cool' if the run is timed and paced well. Sweaty, yes, but cool. I love them and will contribute with comments over the summer, whenever that is.
2. Vaseline, by all means, but do try putting plasters over the nipples too. I learned that the hard way myself, a culprit being an overly wide polyester top, rubbing it constantly over 16K. Since then l wear Nike tight, breathable dri-fit tops over which l wear an NBA jersey, like those big guys do in the training. Nipple ain't bleedin' no more.
3. Well, that's good news but if l were to lose any more of mine, I'd probably hover/levitate.
Well done clubberlang! Youβre doing brilliantly! 10k has your name written all over it. πππ But the nipple thing sounds horrific. π³ Hope it heals quickly!
I too love the rain. Lucky really as my run tomorrow looks to be π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦
Congrats on your 8k today!!! That's awesome. 10k is totally within your grasps now. Yikes on the bleeding nipple though. I can just imagine what the person in the car was thinking with the blood running down your shirt π² as you're running down the street.
Thanks Sask! Yes i'm very happy with it, I'm training for a 10k in London in July, so that gives me plenty of time to build up to 10k. I'm also glad I noticed the bleeding now, rather than during a race in London with thousands of spectators π²π
Bleeding nips I have had. I have a couple of lightweight running tops by Higherstate, cheap as chips but no probs since. Do not run in cotton or anything with any sewing on the front. Worst I get now is a little tender but no blood.
You never know it at the time, but it can be sore later. First time for me was after a long treadmill run. In the changing rooms I noticed blood on my towel then looked down. It was like a horror movie!
Shame about the nip situation. I wonder if bodyglide would work. There are definately fabrics that are better/worse and sizing is key.
Dexy5 unfortunately it's a problem not completely solved by a sports bra π I'm finding with long long runs that I need to put a cotton wool pad in too or suffer!
Well you learn something new every day on here! π΅π Great job clubberlang, πΆRunning, just running in the rain..πΆ (with apologies to Gene Kelly)
πI was thinking the same to be honest. I'm actually wearing a dark blue running singlet on race day, so It doesn't really matter if they bleed.. no one will see it. That's all I'm concerned about, it's completely painless.
Blimey! Haven't experienced the bleeding ripples, but you need a solution to that. Collective wisdom must know (and I haven't read all the comments yet so perhaps there's already multiple solutions).
I know what you mean about the weight loss... you know what's needed... 3lbs of water intake.
Well done on the 8k. You'll be smashing 10k in no time and making my pace look quite pathetic, I have no doubt!
