10K BOOM!!! πŸ’₯

Woohoo - 10K was the challenge- 10.6k done βœ…

My New Years resolution was to run 5k in 2018. After completing C25K in May I spent a few weeks happily consolidating the runs as a graduate πŸŽ“ (first time I’ve ever graduated at anything!!) and trying to improve my fitness. And then I found this forum - hhhmmmm 10K graduates! How do you do that then? I posted.....

I was pointed in the direction of JuJu’s plan. So I quietly set myself a new target with no expectations or timescales- just something to work towards.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been doing two 5k runs and one longer one each week eventually achieving 9.6k last week.

Today was the day then - cold 6 degrees, following a day of rain and high winds overnight. But the suns out creating a strobe effect low in the sky and peeking between the trees.

It’s a knockout (see previous post) obstacles a plenty, a tree down across the path and road, mud for the first time in a long while, and plenty of pine needles as well today(these are very odd to run on in a thick new layer - like running on a moving conveyor). I added a section to the start of my route to avoid the steepest of steep hills or the longest of long hills at 9k - and I did it - I really did it - BOOM πŸ’₯. Distance 10K time 1 hour & 34 seconds the mechanical voice says in my ear as I start along the final stretch of path back through the trees. Yay 😁 Yes. Whoop whoop!!

I carried on to the end of the woodland path as I had to get to the end to get home & I was very late for work - I thought I might as well run as walk.

The bridleways & footpaths will soon be impassable for running and I will be back on less scenic routes but I was determined/hopeful to give 10K a go whilst the farm route was still an option.

Thank you so much for all your support here. My challenge now is to try to keep up some sort of routine & fitness when dark mornings & evenings restrict me to a weekend only run on the roads or the gym πŸ™ whilst looking forward to spring arriving. Challenge enough for now!!

Happy running all and thank you πŸ™ again for the support & encouragement, through all your reports and stories. Long may they continue πŸ‘πŸŽπŸ˜πŸπŸΎ

Great Post from you Formula 1πŸš—πŸ˜Š,sorry FormulaRunπŸƒπŸƒπŸƒCongratulations in graduating here on C25K. As far as no other graduatings are concerned, about 4 months ago there was a graduate of C25K who told us that her C25K graduation meant more to her than her recent college graduation πŸƒ

Congratulations, great achievement on C25K and Bridge to 10K. I find between now and Christmas a tricky time of year for running on weekdays. Mornings and evenings are now dark. This year I'm determine to try and keep up the routine of a 4 or 5k Wednesday and Friday and a longer run on a Sunday. I've signed myself up for a 10K with friends on the 3rd Feb (Cancer Research Uk London Winter Run) so that I stay focused.

Congratulations again πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Thank you - yes it’s difficult when it’s too dark to run before & after work & living in the country where my routes have no street lights limits options. Good luck with your 10K in February - as you say something to keep you focused and motivated πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Inspirational! I’m on the first rung of the 10k ladder (next big milestone 6k), but I’m definitely aiming to get there, and I love reading posts like yours. πŸ‘

Very well done indeed! πŸ‘πŸ‘ It sounds like a lovely run and you sound on top of the world! Huge congratulations - I’ll be there some day too! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜€

Fantastic FormulaRun, congratulations on your graduation and it sounds like such an enjoyable run too. Go and collect your shiny new badge and keep that podium warm for me - that is unless you are dashing off to HM πŸ˜‰πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ†πŸ…πŸŽ‰πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“

Thank you. The spot is ready & waitingπŸ‘ Champagne on ice...🍾. Definitely not dashing off - I never thought I would be able to run 5k, let alone 10K. HM might just be a step too far for me πŸ˜›. Good luck with your challenge & let us know how you get on. πŸ‘πŸŽπŸ
