Storm Chaser πŸŒͺ

I took on Storm Ali tonight and won!

I did swither tonight about going out, watching the trees being blown around on the way home from work and trying to second-guess how bad it was and just what 30 mph winds 🌬 look like.

After I got home I thought I'd step outside into the garden and see what was what - granted it was a little sheltered, but I decided I'd give it a go and turn back if there was any danger of being blown into oncoming traffic! πŸš˜πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸŒ¬

At 1K the torrential rain 🌧 didn't win, I had Pink🎀🎢 for company and pipped the Storm a little on spotting a rainbow 🌈 around 2K.

At 3K the Storm raised the stakes throwing in some driving wind,πŸŒͺ I saw the Storm and fought right back, increasing my pace at 3.5K for the last half K. Not a great pace against the wind, as you'll see from the screenshot, but a final sprint nonetheless and I'm taking it for the winning point!

The week was fine-tuned, a tricky balance of work, studies, kids, school, nursery, running and you know breathing! So, no way was my training schedule being interupted without good cause.

Saartjie , you'll be pleased to hear my new outfit got it's second airing and in tonight's conditions was perfect. I added my new headband to protect my ears from the wind and it was perfect. Not as thick as I thought, but effective.

Not the most exciting write-up, and perhaps the first of many enduring runs heading into the winter months. Still running, still winning and still loving my new venture.

😁😘

Glad to hear the storm couldn't beat Sharron and the cerise pink body warmer! Am relieved to hear you didn't blow away x

Not this time at least! Gotta go bright to make sure I'm seen, for safety not to let the Joneses know I'm out running again! 🀣🀣🀣

Sutsha that's brilliant. I took one look at the weather and decided to go to a Death Cafe meeting instead!

It was great, I made a new friend. Someone I had seen at a Park Run a few weeks ago. A human gazelle, the most graceful runner I've ever seen. So I had fun, but haven't run since Sat.

β€’ in reply toBaddieThePirate

That's great news, maybe didn't run but a new running buddy more than makes up for lost training!

I'm interested in hearing what a Death Cafe meeting is!?

Doesn't everyone else seem so much more graceful, and as you pass anyone you straighten up, pull things in, concentrate on technique and try to pretend you're also graceful. Then you get up the road a little, let things back out, relax back into a gorilla-type slouch and wish you could stay graceful for longer! Or, maybe that's just me... πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

No that's me too. Except I don't really make the effort to pull things in.

The Death Cafe was advertised in the local festival brochure and billed as where 'people, often strangers, gather to eat cake...' (I'm in already) '...drink tea and discuss death. Informal group directed discussion of death with no agenda. Discussion group rather than grief support. Share ideas and feelings about death while eating cake.'

That sounds crazy. I think I'd like it! 😁

Well run! I’m swithering for tomorrow already.

I could've swore you were out this morning ... I'm losing days! Hopefully things will settle over night for you.

Swithering...that's a new one. Sounds a bit like something out of Harry Potter.

A brave girl to take on storm Ali Hidden & come out on top! Those pics are fab, the sky looks so threatening & reminds me of the wizard of oz, there was no blowing you away though xx

β€’ in reply toMummycav

I didn't even notice until you said, but those fields, the house and the rainbow do really paint quite the Wizard of Oz picture! 😁

Brave Sharron getting out there and of course winning! πŸ’ͺ🏼 Great pics too. I’m glad you have s good safe run. Like you say lots worse to come. Probably more so for you in Bonny Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ❄️ πŸŒͺ😍

β€’ in reply toRipcurlrana71

Some say brave, others say daft! I don't think it was as bad here as other places, I'm hearing of caravans being blown off-site but it wasn't anything like that when I went out! Might be a long winter ahead, but we can't complain after the summer we've had. 😘

Well done Sharron - sounds like a good run despite all the other stuff going on! And love the pictures πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜Š

β€’ in reply toDizzysmum17

Thank you! That's my biggest fear, the 'other stuff' getting in the way. Loving running but when the pressure is on, something always gives and its usually the gym. Will running be different....? 😁

I know what you mean - I've already cut my gym visits right down but I know running won't stop - once I have finished a run I am instantly thinking of my next one - how long, where, what time, etc...! Are we obsessed do you think? :)

My name is Sharron, and I'm a running addict! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜

You gave storm Ali what for! Well done. β€˜Still running, still winning’ I love that πŸ‘

The large photo looks like something out of Kansas. You might see some flying cows or Dorothy and her red shoes. Well done intrepid runner. I just got the rain yesterday and that was bad enough!

β€’ in reply to

The way I saw it is we're gonna get worse as we get into winter then we'd be grateful for a little wind and rain versus icey toes. πŸ˜¨πŸ§£πŸ§€πŸŒ¨β˜ƒοΈ

I was told off on Facebook by a friend who told me it was silly to risk slipping on wet leaves. I had posted about having to wring my bra out after the run (literally). I put her straight!

β€’ in reply to

You could warn the person in question that they are in danger of not living a full life when they live in fear of what might happen. By their advice the only truly safe place is back on the couch!

I know you'll be careful out there, you're a pro at this now and an inspiration to us all xx

β€’ in reply to

Well thank you! But honestly, if we only ran in optimum conditions we’d never run at all 🀨 xx

That's absolutely right! Esp here in Scotland...πŸ¦•
