Last training run before GNR

After two exhilarating races this week.... Sun 5M and Thurs 4M..... I set off this morning on my final run before the Great North Run next Sunday. I figured 8 miles would be a good workout so decided to run the 5mls to the Oxford Parkrun, do the Parkrun and a club colleague give me a lift back.

I worked out my pace to get to the Parkrun just before it started so gave myself 55mins running at 11mins/ml. All went to plan, getting there at 8.55. I paused my Garmin and found that they were running a bit late πŸ™„

I soon started to perspire profusely, as I do after I stop running and I got some strange looks 😳 I was beginning to stiffen up so did some dynamic stretches then we were off. Toxic 10 all over again, got into my stride for the first 2k where I started to struggle. Whether it was the enforced stop before the start or my exhertions from the hard previous runs I don’t know πŸ€”

I slowly jogged the second half to finish the Parkrun in 35min..... purely academic really because it was part of my long run!

So just over 8mls in 1h29m. Nice way to finish my HM preparations. That’s it now, next run the GNR! πŸ€—

Happy running all, have a nice weekend 😎

If you want to sponsor me, here’s the link, thank you πŸ€—....

Thanks misswobble , I’m out to enjoy it so slow and steady at the start and take it from there....it’s all about the distance 😎

Yeah, avoid going off too quick. I split the race up into thirds - slow burn, putting a little heat under it, and then raging inferno for the last 0.25 km 😁

You need to conserve energy as you can really start to feel it between 19 and 20 Km.

Good luck Ted :) Hope you have a fantastic day and experience!

You have achieved so much after a few glitches at the start of your running career... but you are an amazing strong runner now and its brilliant that you are fundraising for such a good cause.

look forward to hearing all about it... :) xxx

Good luck Ted, looks like the weather is going to be lovely if the 10 day forecast is to be believed! Maybe too lovely πŸ€” It's not often I wish for a grey, cool day in September...
