Given today is April 1st I'd like to tell you that I ran 10k in 59 minutes....but it's past midday so I'll tell the truth instead π
I actually did 3k across the fields. The paths were nice and dry and I started off quite quickly just because it felt good. I slowed down over the rest of the run as I wasn't setting out to push any limits.
My soundtrack was a 6 Music Indie Forever party playlist. I didn't know all the songs but there were a few favourites on there. Around 2.5k into the run Chaise Longue started. It was the perfect tempo for my mood. By now I was on the tarmac path beside the sea wall at the end of the run. My footsteps were in perfect time and I realised that everything else was working together as it should. I was fairly bouncing along, in my head I had the form of the young guys I see lapping me to finish Parkrun while I'm about to complete my first time round the circuit. It felt fantastic, much better than when I'm channelling the Evil Terminator. Then I made the mistake of looking at my watch - heartrate was around 165 bpm. Uh oh, better slow down, what a nuisance, I was enjoying myself but realistically couldn't have kept it up for much longer.
A very nice little run all in all, and when I got back my youngest son cooked a fabulous birthday breakfast.
Oh, and as my good running shoes are still at my brother's and I won't be along there for a few weeks I treated myself to a new pair of ASICS. They are a bit different from my previous ones, much lighter and less padding but I wanted something that I can also wear for walking around it. Plus they weren't very expensive, I didn't want to feel the need to save them only for when I run and space is at a premium on the boat so this saves bringing a second pair of trainers. Can't wait to try them

When my Mum told the doctor she was in labour they didn't believe her. Apparently they'd had bearded medical students lying on trolleys screaming all morning so everyone was finding the old 'the baby's coming' thing a bit tedious.
