Well, after a slow week and two 3 Km runs in the dark, I got to Keswick in the 4C cold this morning, ready and raring to go. The bright sunshine really helped (sorry no running pics, but this of my mountains on my way back to the car). ☺
A small field of 155, and surprisingly no first time park-runners. Race director said he thought there would come a day when there were no 1st timers left! 😃
Despite it being my 13th run, no bad luck ensued, and I did a personal best time of 32:35, which is a fantastic improvement (for me) on my previous 34:18. I have to credit a lovely young lady who ran most of the way back with me chatting as we ran. She went ahead as we crested the last rise, and seeing her disappear into the distance made me attempt a sprint finish. In the end she beat me by a metre.

I have to say that the night running (6:30 am, and 5:30 pm) with a lighting harness has worked out very well. I'm not confident to run off-road with it yet though. This is the harness I got:
Congratulations on achieving your PB of 32.35 at this mornings Keswick Parkrun, you never know that perhaps you may be able to run a sub 30 minute 5k one of these days under favourable conditions with the help perhaps of another runner 🏃
My husband’s using a light harness very similar to that. I tried my new running head torch out last night. Only on a leafy, muddy disused railway trail, but the visibility seemed good enough to attempt off road if we had that option around here.
I am so chuffed to have taken off over a minute. I didn't go last week for various reasons, so was not expecting even a minor improvement. One day I'll get to 10K, just not this year.
Oh wow what a fabulous photo TOF! And well done on your PB too! 👏👏🏃🏃
I wish I’d had conditions like that for my run yesterday. It was misty and quite mild, and I ran it in a onesie as it was our parkrun’s first birthday! No PB for me! 🍅🏃♀️😅
Well done on the PB Old! I was wondering how you were yesterday while I was out I bought a chest light thingy too but haven’t been out in the dark to try it yet...
Well Done on your PB theoldfellow. It sounds like a lovely run for you in the sunshine 🌞. Chatting along the route is great and I find it makes time go faster too.
Well done on the PB. Gorgeous weather too. I’m visiting my parents in Penrith next weekend and could be very tempted by Keswick parkrun but think my mum would not be impressed by having to wait to set off for our annual Xmas shopping trip to Carlisle 😂
