I won't know until later if this run really did break my 30:49 official Keswick Parkrun record. But Strava thinks it did (30.22), and Garmin suggested 29.48. I am going with Garmin. πΊπΊπΊ
The weather was ideal: cool, no wind (sorry Wales), hint of drizzle, and just damp underfoot with only small puddles. My new Orange Saucony's handled this terrain well, and I only had to jeff at the top of the last hill which is on the wooden underpass of the A66. I felt good until the push for the line, but what the heck, that's the way to the defibrillator...
Good week, 5Km Monday, 5Km Wednesday, and now this. Happy as a sandboy!
Tonight I am working until 2am (Orthodox Holy Pascha), and this afternoon I shall be trying to sleep to get ready, probably too pumped now though!
Hope your runs were just as much fun.

Lovely day here in Central Scotland, completely missed the gales and rain, only a few light showers earlier. Could be a PB TOF, One of the times even suggested a sub 30 minute 5k, must go with the official Parkrun time. I have got the Keswick Parkrun on memory on my Smartphone, I know your real name, the official result usually comes out around 12.30, you must be feeling a bit nervous, could be close to less than 30 minutes.
I'd love to be able to run in the Lake district everyday, It's my favourite place in England. I'm just looking at booking a run in the Lake district.. there's a Lakeland trail run in Keswick in September... It's either that or Coniston a month later.. Both look amazing. π€
Well if you are ever in the area on a Saturday, the Whinlatter Parkrun would be the one. I was talking to someone who runs it regularly today. I have to build up my courage for that though.
If you are running and get different times from various devices you can go for the quickest time, however, if you are running in a official event such as a parkrun, a charity event, you must go by the official 'chip time'
I disagree Al. If you're actually running with a chip, yes that's your time, but until Parkrun issue chips and use timing mats (which they won't and shouldn't), the time I record every Saturday is my watch time, taken from when I get to the start line (which can be as much as 15 seconds after "3-2-1 go") to when I get to the finish. I also note the official Parkrun time for interest, but I really want to compare like with like, so the variable start delay needs to be eliminated (nothing to be done about the double buggies which start at the front and get in your way later though )
That's a very interesting reply from you Stanley, thanks for the explanation, the official time for 'Theoldfellow' at his Keswick Parkrun was 30.11, so he could have ran a sub 30 minute 5k today based on your explanation.
Last October I ran my PB 5K run, the average pace was 6.39Km, at the end of the run Mapmyrun in bold said the duration was 33.40 but the 5K split time was 32.25, that's a difference of 1.15, it did not matter too much as both times were over 30 minutes, however, it could have been the difference between a sub and plus 30 minute 5k, not sure which time I should go for, although I have been telling everyone here since that run that my PB of 32.25 is the time I ran it in.
I suppose we all here at C25K will wish all the runners at tomorrows London Marathon all the best, I just wonder how many of them began their running journey with C25K.
Well done to you! PBs are always with celebrating! πΎπ₯π ππ»ππππ π₯β‘οΈ ππ»π€ΈββοΈππ»π€ΈββοΈππ»π€ΈββοΈ And so, so near to the desirable 30!
Congratulations on your new PB TOF! So tantalisingly close. Sounds like the Lake District is surviving Storm Hannah better than some. Torrential rain and gale force winds for our weekend away in the Peak District βΉοΈ Enjoy your celebrations!
Woohoo TOF, what an amazing time. Iβm not surprised youβre buzzing! I always run so both Garmin and MMR tell me Iβve completed my chosen distance, but I like to use the quickest time! Parkrun for me is almost always the slowest of the lot because I tend to start at the back with my dog! All this technology! π
You are so close to that sub 30 theoldfellow. Well done to you on your PB! Those orange shoes must have wings. You will probably be having your siesta now but Enjoy your Pascha celebrations.
Brilliant run TOF. I like a simple life so I only use Garmin. If it is inaccurate hopefully it is consistently so. I can look at relative performance run on run with a bit of confidence. All of your times were great, so well done on all of them.π₯π₯πππ
Thanks JP. The Paschal Liturgy went very well thanks, but I am now hoarse. 2.5 hours singing a-capella chant will do that. Glad it's a running rest day.
p.s. thanks for the reminder on the Overnight Oats too. I eat overnight oats every day.
