Nice and cool this morning, but chose to stick to shorts, T-shirt and hydration vest for the big day! (Along with new comfy ASICS running shoes...) Was determined to at least try and stop myself slowing down as much as usual as the kms passed, so very happy with the final time. (In last weekโs heat and humidity it took me nearly as long to do 9k!) Keeping my feet moving a bit faster did involve me yelling PITTER PATTER PITTER PATTER a lot to myself in my head, though! ๐๐๐
As with C25k graduation, I knew I could do it, but was caught off guard by how emotional the run made me. Blinking back tears for the last km, while thinking of so many events that had led up to this point. And thinking about you guys, and wondering where youโd all be out running today too. PITTER PATTER PITTER PATTER...KEEP GOING...KEEP GOING...ALL DONE! ๐ 10k!!!! ๐๐๐
So I guess this means Iโm ready to enter the Hoylake 10k mid September now, then the Alder Hey Liverpool 10k mid October... ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐โค๏ธ

Fantastic! Well done you! What a great and happy post - so pleased for you - and love the shoes by the way! โค๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐พ
The big question is 'do you want to?' If you do then there is nothing stopping you. But if you don't, then there is nothing stopping you just running what makes you happy.
Thanks Steve - was thinking of you as I struggled to keep my feet moving as fast nearer the end...thought how youโd be delighted to run outside in cool conditions, so I should just stop whinging right now! ๐๐๐โค๏ธ
Even though I am in the gym out here I think it is still 20 degrees plus in there and very humid, I certainly will be glad to get home (briefly) and get outside, never thought I would miss running outside, I guess I have been converted. Anyway, congratulations again on a superb run, you smashed it!
Oh crikey mountaindreamer, Iโve only started doing 5ks and your post has got me wanting to do 10k now!! I need more miles in my legs first, so Iโll be patient! ๐
What a magnificent achievement for you. I hope you spend the day feeling utmost pride! Cool shoes too! ๐๐ป๐๐ป
Woo Hoo Moutaindreamer. What a run, what a pace. You sure have it in you to do the two 10km races. This is just so wonderful to read. Rest up now for a few days maybe?
Thanks โค๏ธ๐ I still donโt think I can match your 8k speed! ๐ณ
I didnโt like to mention the fact that I went to the gym again after, so donโt plan on any extra rest days. I expect Iโll do my 4k on Wednesday, then Parkrun on Saturday still...๐โโ๏ธ
Wow mountaindreamer, do you realise that 4 months ago you were setting off with the aim of running 30 minutes over 9 weeks. Now look at you. I am so impressed with what youโve achieved, especially when fitted with a pacemaker.
Congratulations, well done, and lots of hugs, you are a star.
Typically, as I set off from the gym to run 10k, my husband went off and ran 12k! (Elsewhere, though, as heโs not a member of the gym, so has to go into work to get a shower until our bathroomโs been done!๐)
Good report and brilliant time. Love your shoes. Iโve only had one pair of Asics and loved them.
Question re hydration vest if I may. Is it the Aonijie one? If so, how do you find it? Iโm thinking of getting one as the ones I already have arenโt quite right for me. Thanks
I love all the pockets. Itโs a bit big on me, but I find it actually encourages me to quickly settle into a much more smooth/ even running style without bobbing up and down! (As soon as I do that I donโt notice it, as it doesnโt move around anymore.)
I ordered 2 collapsible bottles with straws for it, for the front 2 big pockets, but they stink and make the water taste foul. I also ordered a cheap 1l hydration bladder, but found that annoying, as you had to rotate the bite valve the right way in your mouth before it gave out water. So instead I now use 500ml water in my big 2.5l hillwalking bladder, with the top folded over a bit.
Thanks Stephen! ๐โค๏ธ Not sure Iโm aiming for under an hour just yet...will repeat a few times, then return to Podrunner experiments for a bit! ๐
Aw what a lovely post, well done. Iโm just like you in many ways, I keep going albeit slowly. Just entered Eaton Hall 10k in Chester, yikes scary stuff. Good luck, lovely photos by the way.
Thanks Agelesslass! ๐โค๏ธ Good luck with the Eaton Hall 10k. Will have to look that one up. Iโm trying to stick to pretty flat fun runs for now, as Iโm not yet sure how well my pacemaker will manage hills.
Thanks, Sandra!๐โค๏ธ I entered myself (plus super speedy husband) for the Hoylake one last night. Weโve decided weโll see how that one goes before entering the Alder Hey one in October...๐
Well DONE!!!!!!! and a cracking pace too. and looking very good x
Aw, thanks Flick! ๐โค๏ธ Iโve no snazzy leggings like you, though. Once Iโm out of black shorts, Iโll be in black capris then black leggings! ๐
Just waiting for an appt with the Sports Therapist this afternoon to get my spine back on board with the plan, as it decided to have a temper tantrum for other reasons. So my โrecovery runโ may end up being rather late this week...๐
