My first 10k!!!!!!!

Am so excited!! Last week I ran 60 mins 7.77k and today decided to go for 10k. The first 6k was amazing, great music and had a guided run from the Nike app to encourage me along the way. Then I tripped and lost my footing and my ankle hurt. I walked a bit and then jogged and every so often had to walk a little to catch my breath. At least now I have got my route worked out and also a time on which I can compete against myself with to improve. Feel so motivated, I never thought this would be possible for me to do. My dog 🐕 walked all the way 😂. If I can follow jujus plan and do it, anyone can. I started off wearing boots with heels and tried to run for 60 seconds and walking, then bought a pair of trainers and kept going. I remember running for 3 mins and was nearly in tears because it was too hard. Couch25k almost broke me! Am so chuffed and hope my story encourages you to keep going......

You can do it! I never believed or had the faith in myself that I could do it but this group is so encouraging and they cheer you on along the journey that anything is possible!

Oh wow annabananas, how fabulous! Well done you. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Don’t forget to claim your updated badge. You can then gaze it lovingly all day! 🏅🏅🏅

I take my dog on some of my shorter runs too, and she also walks next to me sometimes! It’s so embarrassing - we have a long uphill drag at our PR and that’s when it’s most noticeable! I keep telling her to run ahead and give me a tow, but nope! 😅😅

Haha she wasn’t even panting at the end😜.

Congratulations on completing your first 10K run, I am sure you will be so happy about that, I have been slowly increasing my distance week by week by 1 Kilometre, two weeks ago it was 6K, last week it was 7K and next Wednesday I hope to run 8K, so it won't be too long until I have GRADUATE10 next to my username.

That is wonderful and so encouraging! I'd love to run 10k and your pace and mine are quite similar. Maybe I'll get there too!

Amazing! Congratulations!! I hope some time I can post that, too! At the moment I'm struggling with my knee. It's so annoying ... I hit the 9,55 km at the end of July and since then I have problems. Tried to run 15 or 30 minutes. Running was ok, but the pain came afterwards or on the days after. So, yesterday again ... Thursday is normally one of my running days .. I had to say to myself that I shouldn't go out. :( Only 5 weeks left for the 11k race, that was my dream. :( I still hope that the pain will go away and I can go for that race!

@annabananas: Party! You did so well! :)

Leslie, have you tried exercises for Runner’s knees? Maybe they will help. You’ll get there, don’t be hard on yourself and enjoy the journey 😉

Thanks. Yes, I added exercises for the Runner's knee to my bodyweight training and I work with the blackroll everyday. Hope that helps ...
