It certainly has done that! Exercise used to be a dirty word, until last summer. At 45 I suddenly decided that since I wasn't going on holiday, I would like to try something new. I haven't looked back. π
As you say, we all have our own story.

Actually, Sandra, for me it's easier and more fun than I thought it would be, which is why I've managed to keep it up for 2 years! I'll never be fast but hey, I can still get out there and enjoy it! π

Great quote! Thanks for sharing πβ€οΈ
Well, i already knew I loved it as I did it when younger. From when i got my first fitness tracker, i longed to run again but had been told in my youth, after a serious RTA, that walking would be a problem and running was a total nono. Luckily thinking has changed, so my fears (once I'd checked the wisdom of my plan with my GP) were more to do with am I too old, will I be able to do it with my dodgy leg and back? Thank goodness my desire plus plain pigheadedness, kept me going through the first days of c25k, when my heaving lungs and pounding heart indicated that this was a bad idea, when i was overtaken by an elderly bloke on a zimmer frame, when my red face and shuddering limbs said crawl home, raid the fridge, curl up on the sofa and die.
But the fears never totally leave us, do they? Now I worry about reaching half marathon distance, about making it round a 10k public course within the maximum time allowed. But, pah, one step at a time.
I hope I keep going through the next two decades at least.

Just spotted this post. It's lovely. Says it so, so well. I certainly pushed past lots of big, big fears - all in my head as it turns out - and it has most definitely changed MY outlook on MY life. Let the story continue ....
