First post on this side of the fence as have been on hols (still on hols) but have still been lurking in the background and have been reasonably dedicated while away and have been for a few runs (thx for the kudos on Strava guys ❤️❤️)
Anyway, thought it about time to update the bridge group formally. My original intention was to consolidate & consolidate. For those that haven’t virtually met me yet, I graduated about 4-5ish weeks ago and plan was to consolidate until week after next then start on the bridge. But after running for a few weeks at home and have done shorter and longer runs while away today I knocked out W2 - 6K.
We went early as it’s been a tad warm last few days, but there was cloud cover and was 30/31 degrees at 9am, no breeze to speak off.
I had hoped to try for a 7K but the last 1K was hard as it felt like there was no air! (My 23 yr old daughter also struggled so I feel completely vindicated lol).
Pace was ok, have done better and worse in the heat at home.
Bring on Week 3 - if I can fit the runs in (Damn it’s hot!)

I’ll be on W3R1 as my Parkrun Sat 4th Aug, W3R2 (7k) Mon 6th and W3R3 (3.5k) either Wed 8th or Thurs 9th... not sure which Sat you mean (4th or 11th Aug?)
The order of the 3 runs doesn’t really matter, so I’m putting my short ones in after the long ones in anticipation for needing a recovery run once our distances get bigger...
Don’t worry...think we all keep coming and going at this time of year, so I’ll probably not run much week of 13th (our holidays usually involve rock climbing all day...) and you’ll probably shoot past me then! 😊
I noticed lots of the recent 10K graduates seemed to miss out weeks, but I’m trying to avoid the IC so will aim to stick with Juju’s full 8 week plan.
I was thinking of your post the other week when I’d finished! I was drenched afterward (them had to pop into shop for Milk!) - it was a sexy look! Lmao!
Lol - yeah have done a few. Couple of short recovery runs and 1 x 5 and 1 x 6!
If I didn’t I’d lose time/fitness etc so for the sake of getting up early (which I do everyday anyway - body clock) - I might as well do something with the time when everyone else is in bed. I guess that’s part of the benefit of teenagers lol, we don’t see them much before 11/12!!
You can talk anyway! You cracked out your 10K on hols as well 👍👍👍
So impressive, Mitch! Look at you go. Proper commitment, running on your hols. I am still running three times a week, but ridiculously early because of the heat. Falling asleep at my desk by 2pm and dreaming of cooler autumn weather...
At this point i confess to being completely lost with where all you greyhounds have got to!! I'd done W3 before my legs imploded and fell off. I've had 8 days on the couch since my last run; not sure when or where I'll pick up. I might have a go on Sunday to see what happens before my physio session on Monday. But this week has been a succession of 19hr days at work. So running would have been a problem anyway. Even if i had functioning legs.
Long boring story. Left side IT band (hip thru knee) knackered a couple of weeks ago. Multiple physio visits. To little benefit. Still a bit sore to walk on. Hey ho. It'd be nice to run around a bit. EJBs out of commission and returned to civvy street. Trainers gathering dust. Blah blah....
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that Stephen. Didn't realise you were stuck on the IC too I hope the physio does start taking effect - sometimes I think it can take a while though, and then it gets frustrating when it doesn't seem like anything is improving. Sending some hugs!
Thx - although now Portugal has a mini heat wave! It’s 40 degrees here today! I was hoping to do a recovery run this evening, at this rate it’ll be midnight before I go!!! Lol
