Getting excited…

…about my run tomorrow morning. Weather is set to be just 14 degrees at 6am woo hoo! So a comfortable one, the first comfortable one in what feels like aeons. Saving my long run for the weekend when I have more time, so cannot decide what to do tomorrow. Will make a new playlist tonight. Cannot believe how excited I still get about going on a run, almost one year on since I started running. Oh the joy!

Happy running, my running fiends.

I’m fine Sadie, just a bit of a dodgy back.... flared up on a 7k run yesterday 😬 I’ll live, having a couple of days rest 😊

Also looking forward to tomorrow morning's run Sadie - my aim is to head out on a new route I haven't tried before, take it steady, let my feet decide which we way go at every turn, and just see how it goes, enjoying every step :)

That sounds lovely, Hoagy. New routes are always exciting! Have a fun run. 😁👏

Morning dear Sadie, I was just wondering how you were getting on actually, and yes, I love the quote too :) The cooler weather really helps doesn't it? It wasn't too bad up north on Saturday when I did that 10k, and for today's 3k it was "Goldilocks" weather, though the 3 bears sitting next to the cyclepath eyeing me up were a little offputting :)

I'll keep pressing F5 on your profile until I see how you got on. Have a great day xxx

Oh I am still alive and kicking (and running). :-) 6km this morning, and the temperature was lovely. You see, I do like summer running really, just not 22 degrees and humid. That is just a touch too much for me.

I am not posting every run now I am not on a fixed programme. I fear I would bore everyone! I don't often have much to report on a run. Oh, but today, I was barked at by devil dog again. Tried a different tack this time – I just stopped running and walked calmly away in the opposite direction. He gave up pretty quickly when I did that. Owner, as usual, was too far away and too lazy to come get her demon dog. Sigh.

I never doubted it, dear running-partner-in-crime :P Well done for your run, 6k is a lovely distance, twice what I did this morning, but well just maybe you're twice the runner I am!

So sorry you've had dog issues again :( Having grown up as a child with a fear of dogs due to being bitten by one as a young lad, on the very stretch of canal where I now run, as it happens, I am very happy that it seems to have passed for me, and now my tactic which seems to work is just to run AT the dog. I'm stubborn like that, plus I'm bigger than them, and pay way more tax!! At this point if I was still married, my wife would have been telling me that that's not much use if you're dead, but as I don't have a wife any more.... :P

Seriously, FWIW i think you did the right thing just walking calmly away. Was it OK in the end? Did it spoil the run too much?

Take care xxx Neil

No, didn't spoil the run so much this time; I only had to walk for around 10 seconds before doggo gave up. But, I am still a little annoyed that this stupid woman allows him off the lead when he is obviously so aggressive. I saw him in the far distance, so deliberately did a wide loop to be as far away as possible from him, but the little b£%$%rd still spotted me! I would try and get close to the woman to have a word, and worse case, take a photo of her and the dog to report her, but I think if I try to approach her the dog would go in for the kill lol!

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with a dog as a child. Do be careful about charging at dogs! Doesn't matter if you are bigger than them – you can guarantee their teeth are sharper. Eeek. xxx

Nice going Sadie. I am trying to switch my running round a bit and have been stuck questioning what I will do before a run too. After a few comments about my doing the 30/20/10s regularly I did some looking into it and am now mixing up an easy run, interval run and longer run through the week. As Ted says the intervals is good and the 30/20/10 is a good starter for doing intervals.

Whatever your run of choice - enjoy 😁

Easy, intervals and a long run sounds good, Richard! I do feel at a bit of a loss as to what to do next, after the structure of the 10k programme...but hmmm, still lots for me to try, such as park run, and a race (I have never entered a race before). I think for the next few runs at least I am going to just try and run for the joy of it - but, I think I will need a new challenge for autumn! What keeps you motivated? I run to keep healthy and fit, but it’s a funny ole business, this running lark, and you do have to keep it interesting! 😁

It's gotta be fun. My motivation is the weight I have lost and dare not put back on plus the weight I still have to lose!!

I think setting yourself a challenge helps too. The 10k plan was good for that but I now need to work on my pace a bit so that I can then go further!
