I'm not very imaginative on targets. At the moment I'm just aiming for 100k a month. No races, no speed, no longer distances, just solid 4x a week running. But May saw some serious slacking and last week I just couldn't be bothered. I only ran once and that was only 4k. I couldn't even be bothered to do my morning walks. So there was some serious slipping behind and my target for May slipped from being well within reach to being a major challenge. But not an impossible one. Monday morning, angry with myself for being so lazy - I didn't even run at the weekend - I resolved that I would run every day for a while and on the last day (today) see if I had a chance of reaching my 100k. Made a bit easier by the fact that today is yet another Bank Holiday in Bavaria (I love this place!). But made a bit harder by the fact it's very hot! My pre-work runs were slow and easy, 4.5 -5k Monday to Wednesday. Leaving me with 12k to do today. Longer than I really wanted, I'm not really feeling the love for long runs at the moment. But that's what happens when you're lazy. And what are targets for if you don't try to meet them?
20 degrees when I went out and 28 by the time I got back. Hot, sweaty, a bit knackered. 100.6k covered this month. Now spread it out a bit more in June, JaySee, you really don't have to squeeze 26k into the last 4 days again.

Hi JaySee - well done for pulling yourself up by the bootstraps and getting the distance done. I don’t think you were lazy, the fact is regular running is a tough thing to do. Running when the weather is not ideal or when you don’t feel like it, these are all hurdles that have to be overcome.
I was talking to a friend last week about running and she said that running 40kms+ a week was easy to do. Easy for a non-runner I guess - whereas one of my ‘true’ friends who saw me running 4 days out of 5 on a holiday, said she appreciated just how hard the grit needs to be to do it even when you don’t want to.
So I think you were brilliant to have set the target in the first place and actually run it too..., oh and in that heat - Kudos, full sun and those temperatures aren’t an easy ask.
You really show grit. And you're managing double what I'm doing. I've done about 480k this year, but I must admit I'm not pushing myself too much. 100k a month is well doable with a bit of discipline - I get annoyed with myself if I let things slip for no reason. Illness or injury is a different matter, but just "can't be ar*ed" really is lazy.
As for your friend who thinks running 40k a week is easy, maybe you should invite her to come with you for a week!
Cut yourself some slack - it’s still an ask, I really believe that. Sometime we all have can’t be ar..d weeks. But you didn't stay in that mode that’s the impressive bit.
Maybe the ‘easy’ runner could do a warm up week with you, and then she’d know the truth of it.
