And thatโ€™s my 100k done for the month ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Well, against all odds this morning, I completed my target for the month. It wasnโ€™t fast or pretty but I did it. When I woke this morning I was wishing Iโ€™d just carried on to 10k on Wednesday instead but my poorly tummy decided I wasnโ€™t going to. And that poorly tummy has carried on being horrible to its owner all day Wednesday, AND yesterday and this morning when I awoke it still didnโ€™t feel good. Iโ€™ve also been doing the 7 Day Core Challenge set by my Pilates lady, while she has a weeks holiday, and that has been a bit brutal on the old tummy muscles too.

Then after a few days of feeling good my hip has decided to hurt today too. I must have slept awkwardly again ( after only 4 hours sleep on Wednesday night due to neighbourโ€™s cat/noisy seagulls in the middle of the night and also being too hot). I have had the appointment through to have a steroid injection in my hip on August 10th so ๐Ÿคžthat that will help.

โ˜น๏ธ. Added to that, yesterday I was sat on the settee with my feet up after a long walk, and some gardening, and my Pilates, and a load of housework, and all I did was stretch my legs and feet out and something snicked in my ankle. This is the ankle that I fractured 2 years ago and also tore ligaments in,and it occasionally clicks and makes odd noises but yesterday it snicked but wouldnโ€™t go back to normal again. I kept trying to turn it to โ€œresetโ€ it but it hurt too much. Then Iโ€™d leave it for a while and try again. It just wouldnโ€™t go back to normal and I thoughtโ€ NOOOO!!! I have to be able to do that last 4K!!โ€ Well I ended up massaging it, rolling it on the spiky Pilates balls, and wearing an ankle support this morning ( just in case) as it was still a bit sore.

And then also the fact that it was ridiculously hot at 5.30 this morning too!!! And I was not looking forward to this run at all. BUT I DID IT ANYWAY!!

I picked myself a nice level run, across the town towards Rock Park, around the Park )in reverse Park Run route) and back along the riverside to finish just past the Castle Grounds. Originally I was thinking Iโ€™d round up to a 5k but not today. I wasnโ€™t going to push anything and injure myself properly. I walked home, did my physio exercise for my hip and stretched then showered. And my ankle is still a bit twingey so I think I made the right choice taking it easy.

I did set myself a 100k target for this month too but, as I donโ€™t know how Iโ€™m going to feel after the steroid jab...... Iโ€™m not going to stress too much if I donโ€™t make it.

So ... another beautiful day.. far too hot for me so I shanโ€™t be doing much at all today but whatever you are all doing enjoy your day. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜. Oh and the pic is a little street I pass on some of my runs and I just love the name.

What an achievement! Good luck with your hip.

Thanks. Iโ€™m quite chuffed. It was originally going to be 50 miles and then I worked out that was about 81-82k... and then I got a bit carried away.

Well done on the 100k Lou๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ƒ . . . you pipped me there by 6k, I've just checked and I'm only at 94k ๐Ÿ˜†

Well I did 5 this morning, I did plan to do more but I overslept and it was already a bit warm when I got there at 7.30 ๐Ÿค”

Yeah. I set my alarm for 7 and ended up going out at 5.30 instead.

Well we are looking after my neighbours cat at the moment, I let him in at 5.15, fed him and went back to bed for half an hour, the next thing I know he's jumped on me and woken me up and its 7.15! ๐Ÿ˜

Yeah thereโ€™s usually something aching on my body on a daily basis. One of the joys of having hyper mobility in most of my joints. A lovely trait that Iโ€™ve passed onto my kids... my daughter managed to give herself whiplash once by flicking her fringe out of her eyes when she woke up. As a kid I used to turn my ankle on a near daily basis and put my neck and shoulders out by sneezing

Putting 2+2 together I reckon youโ€™re in Barnstaple. I used to live in Braunton. Such a lovely part of the world. Whatโ€™s the cycle track towards Braunton like to run on? I seem to remember the windโ€™s always against you !๐ŸŒช๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

limberlou profile image
limberlouGraduate10โ€ข in reply toHeavyFoot

Yes you are correct. I love running on the Barnstaple to Braunton side. Itโ€™s tarmacced all the way now. Iโ€™ve run back from Instow a few times but the hedgerows are a bit more boring that side. (Although you can stop for refreshments at the Fremington Quay cafe. )And on a walk at this time of years absolutely packed with blackberries... and a bit later on rosehips too.

And you are right about the wind too. I always think โ€œoh itโ€™s against me now so it will be behind me on the way backโ€. BUT IT NEVER IS!!!

I grew up in Braunton, mum and dad moved back there when I was 4, lovely to play in as a kid... boring as hell as a teenager!!!

Wow! Amazing achievement Lou, especially given your aches and pains - so inspiring! Here's hoping that the steroid injection gives you relief from your poor hip.

Congratulations on your 100K, that must of consisted of several 10K's, perhaps a half marathon and several 10 mile runs, well done.

limberlou profile image
limberlouGraduate10โ€ข in reply toAlMorr

Nope nothing over 10k, mostly 6s and 7s on alternate days. I worked out at the beginning of the month that if I ran alt day that was at least 15 runs which is 6.6k a time so then made sure that some were over that to allow for days when I felt a bit ropey. I can manage 7.2 in an hour so a lot of runs were that long and sometimes is pushed to 8 or 9 depending on how far from home/ how tired I was

This month is going to be a lot less I think,a) because if my ankle which is still painful ...who would think yawning and stretching my legs would cause an injury to my ankle๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ#rubbishjointshypermobileowwww

And b) I am expecting to be told to take it easy after the steroid jab for a while but not sure how long. But I will still do my daily Pilates to try to keep strong and in the words of Arnie โ€œ Iโ€™ll be back!!โ€๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜

Well done on achieving 100k in a month. That's brilliant. I hope your ankle is feeling better today and you're having a well earned rest ๐Ÿ˜Š

limberlou profile image
limberlouGraduate10โ€ข in reply toRaspberrypink

Unfortunately itโ€™s not feeling any better. I wore my ankle support for part of yesterday but then my toes went tingly so I took it off again. I think itโ€™s reclicked back into place( whatever it was) but obviously there is underlying tenderness now, last night it was radiating up the back of my calf but that has settled now. Iโ€™m going to take it easy for a couple of days and wait till itโ€™s recovered before running again.
