Now that the weather has improved and the mornings are bright I was wanting to get out and run. If I run at 6am what should I eat beforehand and how long beforehand to ensure I have energy but yet not running on a full stomach. Advice from fellow runners would be appreciated. Thank you

Early Morning Runs and what to eat?
I'm about to head out now. i've had a cup of tea, a small bowl of muesli and soya milk with raspberries and a small banana.I just finished it, and will run when I've put my gear on.
I eat nothing before running early in the morning. Just drink a glass of water.
A lot of it will depend on how far you're planning on running for.
Thank you so much everyone. I’m just back... had one weetabix and almond milk. Waited about 30mins and have run further than I ever have! Appreciate the time you all took to reply. Will take on board all the advice especially about being well hydrated even the day before .... never knew that. Thanks again. Enjoy the day and the lovely weather 👍
I think everyone is different. I like to run first thing, so it’s one mug of tea as I’m dragging myself out of bed and into my kit and that’s it. Although I do make sure I’ve had plenty of fluid the night before and then drink plenty of water on my return as well as reward myself with breakfast.
It sounds like your‘ email got it sorted.
When I run early unless I’m doing more than 6 miles I just have water. We are all different though, but if you do eat you will be more comfortable if you wait a while before you go.
Hydration is key and runners, everyone really, should be well hydrated all the time not just before a run. Realfoodieclub did a great post a short while ago on the subject - well worth searching for it.
That’s very helpful... thank you. I’m going to have to increase my intake of water!
To start with you might feel like you are peeing for England but stick with it your body adjusts
🤣🤣🤣🤣I’m definitely going to stick with it as trying to lose a little weight and tone up
Stick with it and you will tone up. Weightloss can come with longer runs (as long as you eat healthily and don't 'reward' yourself for the running. If you aren't already, measuring yourself in other places than the usual will give you an idea what's happening and can take any pressure off that weighing can bring. I lost a couple of cms from my neck!
