Short 40 min morning run with Cory from Nike’s Running Club, and really enjoyed it!
Over the last 2-3 weeks I was feeling as if I was loosing my mojo! Heat was definitely too hot, mornings were too tired, mid day runs too sunny. So I only struggled to get 2 runs in per week, and I was really not feeling good about myself.
So I had a good talking to myself, signed up to a new long distance challenge and a little 5k world record challenge (not speed, rather # of runners) and then after yesterday having spent the whole day grumping, I went out first thing in the morning today.
Chose NRC as I wanted to experience something new….
… and …
…brill!!! Love Coach Cory! (I hadn’t been quite so enamoured with coach Bennett)! And boy did the small run feel good.
A small section of the paths were overgrown (when did I last run this short route?), I burned myself a bit on nettles, had to navigate some brambles…. But wow, did this feel good.
So I’m going to be good and solidly aiming to not let work and my own grumpyness get in the way of my morning runs! Wish me luck!

Well done CBDB I’m a big fan of Coach Cory, and I’m happy with Coach Bennett too on the NRC app. The ‘all over the pace’ interval session with Coach Becs is also a favourite of mine!I’m recovering from injury slowly and I did a repeat of week 2 of C25K earlier this week and all went well. Hopefully that will continue🙂🤞
I’m really looking forward to getting out running regularly again🏃♂️ and I’ll be sure to stretch properly before and after my runs in future!😊
Well done for getting out there CBDB and reenergising buy changing coaches.
I’ve seen a few posts on here lately where people have lost a bit of mojo, I have pondered on this is it the daily change in the weather? or a little bit flat after the COGH challenge? Or just the stop start and stop of the restrictions?
So wishing you luck and focus for next week - you know you enjoy a challenge and your new coach will energise you.
Well done CBDB! Sometimes we need to make some kind of change in order to recover our mojo, it sounds like that lovely route (except for the nettles and brambles, ouch!) and Coach Cory really worked for you today yay 💪🏃♀️🎉
Go you CBDB! You rediscovered your mojo, well done! Sometimes a change of tack does the trick, and for you it was Coach Cory. 🥰
NRC has really enthused me too. My mojo has always been there, but I found myself stuck in a bit of a running rut. Coach Bennett and friends make it so much fun - even speed runs! 😳
I bet you’ll end up being a convert too! I used to hate them with a passion, now I look forward to them. 🏃♀️🏃♀️
Well done CBDB! I think I might give Coach Cory a try on Sunday. Like you I wasn’t to enamoured with coach Bennett either he just seemed to talk too much.👏👍😀😀
Nike Running Club. It’s an iOS or Android free app, and the free running tracking service also includes selection of audio coached runs.
It is really worth trying and I do have all three main trackers on my phone (Runkeeper, Strava and Nike Running Club NRC). They each have their strength and audio coached runs is the strength of NRC.
Well done for getting your mojo back, I think we've all been there at some time or other. I have just looked through NRC and can't find the 40 min Coach Cory run. What does it come under? For my "quick run" Mid week I use Coach Bennett's First Fartleks run, which has improved my pace for my long run Monday and Saturday's "Not Parkrun". Keep up the good work!🏃♂️
Just looked, I used “First Run” which is a 20min run but I used it to keep running for a total of a 40 min run. Sorry about the confusion. I assume the paid version has more audio runs? But I’m not sure. But although it’s titled “FirstRun” he calls it a “Recovery Run” and it is really great for that!
Well done on getting out despite the grumps 👍🏻 a morning run always cheers me up. I'm also back using NRC lately, there's some really good guided runs and different training options. Coach B is also pretty great once you get used to him 🤣🤣.
I hear ya, I haven't been out for a lot of runs either the last 2 weeks. Going to write a bit about it soon. Can I ask, but the small bit in your picture with the exercises on, is it an app? Besides the floor exercises, it looks interesting to do as a warming up or cooling down...
Thank you - I will download that app, it will be a great help. Today I did a couple of planks and a bit of work on my arms with the weights but then realised I had over done it. My back has been sore all day 😬
Hia, just wondering how you are getting on with the Virtual Trainer Stretch App. Any questions, just let me know. I do like it so am happy to give any hints on how best to use it, if I can.
Hi, thanks for your interest. I am still tweaking the settings so that each exercise repeats twice (left then right leg or side). Still can’t get it quite right!
1. First I choose build yourself (top of screen) rather than use pre-built
2. I named my new built NHS C25k, you can see it on pic on left. You can swipe to and fro between exercises on left and prebuild workout. (At this point it might still be empty)
3. I drag an exercise from far left to right and build up (in my case) 8 different positions/stretches. (I use only 1 day)
4. Once saved and on your first start the screen with time-rest-sets come up. I set it to (see right on image) 25 second long stretches, 15 sec rest inbetween and 2 sets. The two sets mean that every position is repeated once. (I ignore the repeats toggle completely)
Hope this helps, but maybe you got all of this already.
Ahh, that is wonderful! - thank you so much for taking time to explain everything, it makes much more sense now! I ended up dragging 2 of each exercise into the box. BUT I did discover that you can move the exercises into the order you want by clicking edit and tapping the 3 bars at the right hand side, then moving the exercise up or down. I was pleased with myself 😂
