Started my new job and working again tomorrow. Will need to do an early run, so got all my kit out ready and setting alarm for 5.30 am for a 6 am run, don't know how you working runners do it but here goes, I am a runner so I must run!

Having the kit ready the night before makes such a big difference for me (so presumably everyone else)- the gremlins haven't got an answer for that.

I know it's been said before, but I can only echo the other early birds- once you've done it, you're set up for the whole day- go catch that early worm- the gremlins will be destroyed by 06:30. :)

Hope you got up and got out.... and that your first day back goes well x :)

Well done for firstly starting your new job and secondly getting up early to run before work! 😊 You will find time to run even if you work full time. I work full time and a bit more and running HAS to be fitted in- it brings me solace and relief from the stresses of the day. I'm not one for getting up early though so I run after work. I can sometimes feel dead on my feet but once I'm out there I get re- energised. Good luck on this new phase, you will be great. 😊

I hope the new job is going well. At least you have started it in the summer so can get in the habit of running whilst the mornings are lighter, and before it gets too hot. A good run will wake you up and set you up for the day ahead. Enjoy.

Thanks everyone, new job is going well. Best 5k run ever too, despite the early hour of 5.30 am! Managed to cover the distance in 33 minutes - fastest ever and no sign of the dreaded calf pain! Made me feel good about the day

It's fantastic getting up early to run, isn't it. The only downside I can see is not being able to fit a cup of tea in beforehand!

But the cup you have when you get back is the best cup ever!

True, I look forward to that cup when I get home and a breakfast too!!

Once you get in the habit of early morning runs it becomes pretty addictive in as much as that if you cant do a run for any reason you feel guilty about it. Preparation is the key and a weather check just before going to bed to make sure you have all the right clothing available.
