It had to happen. I hadn't had an injury since starting c25k in July 2016. Since my 10k last Thursday I have had groin pain even on walking. I did a slow, painful 2.5k on Tuesday (don't know how I managed it).
Today I went out for a walk along one of my running routes. I went dressed for running in case I felt like breaking into a trot. I did try this a few times but it hurt so much I had to stop straight away. Walked about 3k with a slight limp.
I have a 10k event in just over 2 weeks and don't know if I'll be able to do it. I have booked 2 sports massages between now and then, so those may help. I feel despondent and am realising just how much running has been contributing to my wellbeing. I remember tripping over a tree root towards the end of last week's 10k, it was the closest I've come to falling during a run. Maybe that's what did it.

Oh what a pain Joy. I doubt that the near fall would hurt your groin, it sounds like an overuse injury. The sports massage should sort you out and if you have a good therapist she/he should be able to give you specific exercises to do too.
Keep the faith. Two weeks is a long time in a runner's life and you don't need to run before then. You've done the training and the distance so if your pain goes before then you'll be good to go. Fingers crossed.
Oh thanks for that IP. That's encouraging. I'll rest it, have my massages (I've been to this woman before and she is good, if painful 😄) and I will most definitely keep the faith xx
So frustrating - but I agree with Irishprincess, that not running on it for a bit is the way to go, especially if you want it to settle in time for your race. Hope that the massage helps - they may also be able to offer you some helpful advice. Good luck.🙂
Morning Joy, so sorry to hear of your injury, it’s so frustrating if you’ve been injury free up til now 😕
I know how you’re feeling, I was on the IC for 5wks up until last week with a Hamstring injury. I had a Physio sort me out and all I can say is do what he/she says and you’ll be OK .....the rest will do you good 😊
Take it easy! I’ve been using C25k to get me back on my feet after injury last summer (I was in GNR training). It seems to be working and so far my knee is still working. If you are not up to it, skip the 10k. There will be more races in future.
I'll see how it goes up till then. The special thing was that I was aiming to run this one with (ok, trailing behind) my daughter who entered us both for it.
