Ahhhh! The snow as you all know has again landed and happily blocked us all in our lovely wee village! After walking.....well ploughing through the snow ❄️❄️with hubby and dogs I returned home and after a coffee break decided that the only way I was going to complete Wk3 and move on was to yes you’ve guessed it! Run on the treadmill.
So it wasn’t that bad and I managed to do 7.05k in 68mins. I did have to have a quick walk halfway through so I could get me breath back and have a slug of water.🤪🤪
My foot is starting to be on the mend and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be. I was half expecting to give up at about 2k. So there is a marked improvement.
Having had wk 4 as a rest week can I go straight to wk5. Tomorrow I shall rest and Tuesday start wk 5 hopefully outside!🏃♀️🏃♀️
Anyway hope you are all safe and hope that some of you managed a run outside.
I’m sure you will find the same. As there are storms predicted for you tomorrow will you be able to safely run outside or will you treadmill it too? Will think of you!
Hoping Thursday will be clear as I’m going to Cardiff in Wales to record two songs. This is birthday experience for my 60th birthday surprise which was in Feb. My wonderful thoughtful hubby organised it for me. It was supposed to be 23rd but the day was changed. Anyway looking forward to that. Well excited!
Good luck for tomorrow Helene over there and stay safe🏃♀️🏃♀️😀😀
I've only just spotted this, Maggie. Your 60th birthday surprise sounds brilliant- what a thoughtful gift! I am sure you will have a blast- do tell us all about it.
You inspired me to be more open-minded about longer runs on the treadmill and the result was a really great 8k run that I thoroughly enjoyed. Made sure I was armed with a good playlist and decided to embrace the monotony, LOL! This actually turned put to be a great aspect as it was like a sort of active meditation, and the whole thing was certainly a lot less hard on my knees than an outdoor 8k. I enjoy feeling alert and the adventure of outdoor runs but I loved this as a different sort of experience. I think having a lot more time on my hands helped a lot, and it was during a day off while the kids were at school so I wasn't fretting about babysitters or feeling guilty for not being at home.
Oh I’m so glad for you Helene ! and well done for giving the treadmill a go. I’m so chuffed that you had a good 8k run on it. It’s hard going sometimes but if you have a good playlist and just go with it,it’s not so bad.
When I run on my tread, I set my incline for 1% and that is supposed to mimick the outside terrain. I set my Garmin for indoor use and off I go with my music. I also follow some u tubes that I downloaded onto my I pad. Which is thetreadmiller.com. There are various runs and not all of the distances are long ones.
However you will always be running behind this woman and will never catch her up or overtake her ha! Her husband / partner is cycling behind her videoing her. It’s set in Norway so very flat and with various beautiful scenes. It is one of the best sites I’ve come across and she is a very good runner with a great pace, easy to follow.
Anyway why not take a peek at it. It doesn’t beat the real thing but is always good for a stand by,if bad weather kicks in and there are no potholes to be seen! Also if you haven’t got anything too worry about you can as you say just meditate your way through.
Yes I’m looking forward to my singing experience on Thursday and I will certainly let you know how it went thanks🎤😲😲
Hoping to get out tomorrow as the weather is getting better, and I want to start WK5 of 10K challenge. I’m on annual leave at the moment for 2 weeks ( using it up before the start of the new financial year) so I’ll be able to get lots of runs in I hope.
Whow! apologies for the long monologue ! Some times I don’t know when to stop hee! hee!🤯
Anyway Helene
Happy running and stay safe 🏃♀️🏃♀️😀😀
You and me both, girl, Though thankfully my treadmill run yesterday was the 5k of the week 3 runs - I did the 7k previously and outside. Well done for doing a full 7k on the treadmill! I think I would have died of boredom. Im glad the foot is mending x

Thanks Flick! Yes it can get a wee bit boring. But to eliminate this,I listen to my running music and also I have a few different u tube running videos. I downloaded them from the site Treadmiller.com. There is a women who runs different routes in Norway while her husband/partner cycles behind her videoing her.
On the u tube you are running behind her and following the routes she goes. You never will catch her or overtake her 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️😀ha! These are worth a look and they are very good. Some of the best videos Ive come across for treadmill running. Their set in Norway so very flat and beautiful scenery.
However you can never beat the real thing. Getting outside is fab and hopefully this snow will go soon ha!❄️❄️
They have their place. Longer distances are tough on the treadmill. I’ve taken to varying the pace every half K to have some variety. Hopefully winter is now finally past.
The problem with mine is it’s too small to do longer distances comfortably. I have to hold the handle one side or I find myself drifting and stumbling over the edge or off the side. It really is a stopgap bad weather solution only.
Like most I am also not a fan of dreadmill running - but with the recent weather - needs must!😬 Don't think I could do anything above 5k on it though - so boring!
I'm going to have a look at the you tube videos - they sound a good distraction for treadmill runs!
