Fortified by the magic banana and a cuppa this morning I ran 10.6K for Team UK! The furthest distance I have ever completed. Haven't run 10K since last May! Just shows you what a bit of competition will do for you. ππ
My run is showing in "My Runs" and on my homepage on the VRWC website. But the HU member list is still showing all the runs done for the qualifying round. My run today isn't showing in the members list. So I am confused! But also thrilled to have completed a long run.
Hope you all have good running this weekend. Go Team UK! πββοΈπββοΈπ

Iβve just received an email from them saying that Ireland didnβt make the cut, and they hope to see me next year....... I live in Scotland and ran for the UK.....
For goodness sake , it's one thing getting the runs wrong but putting you out of a country you weren't even in that's just laughable. Did you contact them ?
Hilarious! I asked the VRWC chat people what was happening and they said "there may just be a delay with the automation on your account". Hmmmm.... meaning? All good fun anyway π€£π€£π€£
Totally confusing, congratulations on your 10K run, I understand that the runs today by everyone have not registered on the main list, like you the 5K I ran this morning appeared on "My Runs" but the overall distance is the same as on Friday.
Thanks so much! I know - the VRWC website really doesn't seem to be working properly! Haven't checked today (Sunday), but I don't have a lot of faith in their systems. Never mind, I shall do a shorter run today and see what happens. Happy running Al. ππ
I got one telling me the same about France....not even sure where that connection has come from. Iβm getting so frustrated that they canβt fix the tech π‘
π€£π€£ Par for the course, K8nno. Made me chuckle out loud. My injured foot has stopped me running - perhaps it will credit me with runs? Who can know?
I don't usually have anything but after this morning's run (and even after the banana) I felt really cold and ravenous when I got back. Had to eat cake! π°π°
I know. I rushed back to my PC feeling so proud and then was a bit disappointed to see they're still showing the qualifying info. It's not very transparent is it - you can't see country totals (or can you?). Anyway, I'm thanking VRWC for giving me the incentive to do a lovely long run! ππββοΈπββοΈ
Just realised you had a foot fracture too didn't you? Well done on getting to this point. It's hard to have confidence isn't it, but you're clearly getting there. Great news π
Well remembered! I was signed off by the doc last September and did C25K again. Since then I've been doing 30-35 minute runs but this morning I just thought I'd start really slow and keep going. And it worked! Happy running to you. ππββοΈπββοΈ
I got notification of your post, which meant I must have followed you at some point, so I went to check why and rememebered! I have managed to get back to HM distance, with a couple of weeks off along the way when I felt my foot was tender, but right now (fingers firmly crossed) it still feels good.
That's marvellous doing HM distance! Well done! I've been stuck at 35 minute runs but today has convinced me I could try building up to 10 miles perhaps. I'm not likely to be a really long distance runner (though I had negative split times this morning, which surprised me - though I did start slowly). Anyway, it's all good.
Happy running - at least we can keep doing this outside whilst avoiding contact with other people! ππ·
Just build up in small increments and run your long runs slowly! I was at HM distance when the fracture happened, I certainly haven't tried running further!
I agree, we're really lucky to have the outdoor running as a release.
Will certainly follow that advice. I deliberately ran more slowly than usual to start with today and by 5K I was speeding up and feeling great. Happy running! π
Thanks so much! I saw that you went great guns in the qualifiers! I was hoping to contribute a bit more during the last 16 competition but who knows whether they will be counted. Oh well, it's been fun anyway. Happy running! πππββοΈ
It seems very hit or miss what is counted but I suspect Coronavirus restrictions across the world will close down this virtual event as well as the live ones. π₯΄π€
Fantastic!! That us great going....glad itβs giving us a little incentive but boy itβs so annoying they canβt fix the tech side. Got the same....my parkrun is all there logged but not gone against my goal or my team total. Very annoying!
Thanks Sparkey! It is annoying isn't it? I've just done another 5K this morning and it shows in My Runs but not the team total. I'm beginning to lose interest...........
However I'm still glad that VRWC gave me a push to try a longer run. Happy running and stay safe. ππ
As βownerβ of our collective I have written a complaint email sharing our frustration and my general disbelief that any country score is accurate given the range of issues we have. Generally sharing my disappointment that linda9389 and I encouraged so many to join and we feel a bit let down. Canβt imagine it will change anything but felt I needed to let the organisers know.
That's great, thanks. You and linda9389 should feel great about encouraging people to join. I'm proud to be one of the 125 or so HU members! What a great response, and shows me what a great running club we are. ππββοΈπββοΈπͺ
Not to worry Sparkey5000. I reckon itβs turning into a different kind of βfunβ just to follow the next mix-up! Anyway, you and Linda9389 have bee superb throughout! ππΌ
I know what you mean Sparkey. Well done for writing to them. I for one am glad you set the team up - it's been fun seeing people get involved. Over the next few weeks virtual teams and communities are likely to take on an even more important role - here at HU we're already in a great place. Thanks once again for making this team happen ππ
Hey Jo, that's a massive achievement and it gives me hope, because I've been on the IC for weeks, and I'm now very carefully doing c25k again. Hmm, maybe I need a pre run banana too!
Thanks so much! Glad to hear you're off the IC. I also took a cautious approach and did C25K again right from the beginning. It's good to build up again gradually. Good luck with your return to running! πππ
Lovely to hear from you. I am keeping well and busy and my loved ones, though not here, are doing well. Went for a lovely run this morning - hope we can keep doing that for a while.
I hope you and your family/friends are managing OK in these strange times. How things have changed in such a short space of time. Keep safe and well, and happy running. πππ€
