1200k this year

Would never have believed it if you’d told me at the start of 2017 but I have run 1200k to date. That’s 100k a month.

A nice 7.5k at my sister’s place on Christmas Eve before the food and drink orgy continues.

I’ve not yet finished with December as I haven’t actually run 100k this month, and I want to run 110k (my average over the last 10 months), but 1200k is a huge milestone.

I’ve loved running this year and have really made it part of my life. The running tourism has been pretty wonderful. The amazed look on my sister’s face when I told her I’d covered 7.5k before breakfast showed me how far I’ve come.

I don’t want to go back!

Merry Christmas all! May the running gods be good to you👍🏃

That's one of the benefits of running...it allows one to witness and experience that which they wouldn't normally. Capturing a bird landing upon water is a case in point.

The sights, sounds and smells that we witness as runners may not necessarily be newsworthy, but they certainly help to re-affirm the reasons behind we continue to run.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed a nice 7.5K run close to your sister's house, taking time to capture the above, while also pushing closer towards achieving a personal target of 110K for December.

Now how did you know? I did indeed see birds on a lake and experience dawn in a beautiful landscape. Next run on Boxing Day!

Admittedly, when I looked at your picture yesterday evening, I thought that the object in the distance was a large winged bird, such as a goose, coming into land over the water. However, having not consumed nearly as much 'pop' today, I now have second thoughts.

Still, I'm sure that the sight of birds that you actually did encounter, upon passing by the lake, created a wonderful sense of tranquillity, particularly since winter running conditions yesterday were more or less perfect.

Just doing the maths here. Maybe that is a target for me in 2018?

I started the year off badly, well off target. I only managed 130k in the first 2 months. But at the beginning of March I decided to up my game and increase my mileage. And since then I've been averaging about 110k a month. I don't think I want to increase it much more though.

I am doing about 18k a week now. From nothing in July.
