Last run before Christmas. I didn’t make the 6K on this occasion but I was happy enough to get in a 5K run given the fact I’ve been under the weather since Tuesday and my old ankle injury flared up again yesterday. I’m very pleased to say that the ankle was fine and I took this run slowly in case I felt able to carry on with the Nike Running Club 6K which was my guide this morning. When my FitBit hit 5K I knew I was too weak to push myself any further. The 6K will come but I have to be content with another 5K run.
It’s been a long and difficult year but the running has been the bright spot on the horizon. My progress is slow and I’m no natural distance runner but considering I’m able to feel awful for a few days and then get back out there and complete 5K speaks volumes regarding my development and mental strength. I’d have bailed out early a month ago. I’m made of stronger stuff these days.
Merry Christmas one and all. Xx

Gosh well done Dodgylungs. You sound like me: good weeks and bad weeks. Luckily I find the odd week off doesn't seem to affect my overall fitness. And there's no rush to get to 10k. Happy Christmas and Happy running.
Thank you! Absolutely no rush at all to get to 10K. It’ll take me another 4 months or so I reckon. In the meantime I’ll enjoy the runs as much as I can. Merry Christmas to you too!
