Santa Run - my first 10k race!!

Hi everyone. Long time no see (or rather messaging) For the past 2 months or so I've been slowly increasing my runs from 5k to 10k. I finally hit 10k two weeks ago and today I ran my first 10k race.

It was the santa run held in Victoria Park in London. I chose this race because it looked like good fun plus you got a medal.

When I turned up I started to second guess myself and worry that if I did the 10k I'd be the slowest, which I would find very embarrassing. I almost talked myself out of it ad told myself I could just do 5k instead. But by the time the race was I it's way and I was 3k in I knew I'd be running the full 10k. And I did it! It wasn't a timed race but according to mapmyrun it took me 1h 19mis. Wahoo.

Now I'm not sure what to do next. I want to do a half marathon around my birthday which is in September but I don't know what to do leading up to that. I might want to do another race in between or I might want to order work on speed.

What did everyone else do after reaching 10k?

I'm a bit lost after reaching 10k. So far I have run 5k mid week and 10k at the weekend to keep my hand in plus an easy run with my daughter slotted in somewhere. I'm going to get bored soon so will need to find a new focus.
