And bling!
Decided on Wednesday night after running club, just to go for it & enter the Great Scottish run - 10k. My first! I'd pretty much run (no pun intended!) out of excuses.
So on an extremely driech (brilliant Scottish word, it is exactly as it sounds, very wet & very grey) I headed into Glasgow & joined the thousands of folks warming up.
I had a plan, stay near the back of my group & start slow. My plan didn't work!!! Instead of running my first k at 6mins per k, it's turns out I ran it at 5:40, but at least I never went above that for the whole run & did finish faster than I started - so that part of the plan worked!
Spectators at strategic points & music or pipers at others provided a great boost.
I was thrilled to finish in 53:54, position 2264 and 24th in my age group & gender!
Shame it was a rotten day, but I'm still buzzing & think I will be for quite some time!
I can't remember the exact date, but I do know I started the C25K in October last year, so taking this as my runniversary present!
