Did my first 10k yesterday - very happy!

So yesterday morning I ran 10k for the first time, having followed the Magic Plan.

I started off relatively slowly but soon settled into my normal pace - somehow I find it harder to run more slowly.

Just after the 6k mark I began to have doubts that I would finish, as my route was taking me past a point where I could take a short-cut home - for a few seconds I was tempted but knew I'd be letting myself down if I cut the run short.

So I persevered, running along the riverbank away from home for another 4k. I was telling myself I can do 4k without too much difficulty.

Having made the decision to keep going, I found the final couple of k easier - almost as if I'd opened a new source of energy so by the end I felt I could have run further!

In the end I ran 10.34k so I'm very happy!

John

Congratulations on your first 10k .That's always one to remember πŸ˜πŸ‘

Well done !

Don't forget that badge !

I actually did my longer runs each time in the idea of 'what is another 3K' or 'if I go for 13K, I'm more than half way now already'. The mind can be weird eh? But it can also be annoying. Whenever I am in my last K, whether it be for 5 or 13, my legs suddenly tire. I have the same issue when doing a long walk. Once my mind realizes that it's almost over, my body seems to cave. While I could go further if it was longer. If you know what I mean.

Anyhow, congrats on your very first 10K!! Go catch your badge next to your name and take a cold one to celebrate the future 10K's to come πŸ˜‰
