Time for gait analysis and new shoes!

β€’14 Replies

I last had my gait analysed in a running shop in Milton Keynes in 2004. Two guys were lying on the floor watching whilst I ran bare footed up and down the shop on a little run track! I overpronated then so I was sold structured shoes. I brought new shoes again in 2006 but gave up running in 2008 post baby. Running came back in my life last year and I brought the exact same shoe which have run 350 miles (grey trainers in pick) They did me well until I exceeded 7 miles and blisters arrived on my second toe on my left foot. I think this is due to my foot swelling more on longer distances and a logo on the front rubs. Today I had my gait re-checked. After 12 years and two pregnancies my feet are 1/2size bigger and are borderline pronation which puts me in neutral shoes after all these years. They are black and white nike air Pegasus 34 (Oh why can't I have colour in my life!!). I have taken them for a 4.8 mile trip today and had an ankle gremlin at 1 mile necessitating loosening of the lace. Otherwise all was good though my legs were tired. My blister is healing so a smidge sore on the run but no new blister has arrived! Hopefully we will have a very happy running journey together!

I have the Air Pegasus 32's ( same colour black :) ) - but I found them to be a bit narrow for me. I understand that NIKE make these shoes in wide fit sizes - but ( of course) not available here in Australia. I am still not running - so these may eventually become walking shoes for me.

Sorry to hear you are still on the ic. My feet are quite narrow so they seem ok so far but then 4.8 miles is not much of a test lol. I will see how we get on.

Gait analysis the best thing I have done before starting C25K again. I like that you specified which pair is being replaced in the picture πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Fascinating that your feet have changed, or at least the assessment.

I did the Brooks shoe finder process online and it came up with neutral shoes, whereas I have support shoes fitted after gait analysis.

I have to make my mind up whether to buy the same GTS 15s, while they are still available or have another analysis and see if my feet have changed too.

I stuck with the same brand and size before but as they were causing blister issues my hand was forced. If I get on with these I will aim to keep buying the same on line, I am a creature of habit! I did find my ankle complained a little between 1 and 2 miles (has happened odd times with my old trainers) so I am a little worried my legs are not as happy with the change. I assume a little while for legs to adapt is required?

I currently have three pairs of shoes and alternate them, never doing consecutive runs in the same pair. Try alternating your new and old shoes, which avoids any problems caused by suddenly changing from one form of support to another........a gentler transition.

Oooh, new shooz! Interesting that your feet have changed. I know what you mean about colour - I have very large, wide feet so often end up with men's shoes. I know pink and purple shoes won't make me run faster but it would be nice to have colourful shoes once in a while! Happy running!

I loved a Brooks pair is a burgundy colour scheme but alas they were too wide. I have small and narrow feet so limited a bit. That said I see the summer version was more colourful and may be an addition to my wardrobe soon!

My daughter wears similar, great shoes for narrow feet πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈ

Very nice! I do love a Nike Pegasus! I had to undo the laces all the way up and slacken them off as they are really quite tight at the bottom (at the end nearest the toes) and were pressing on the base of my big toe and I ended up with a painful blister. It caused me to stop on my next run, drive home and get a plaster on it, and head back out again. Tsk

I managed to get a purple pair with a contrasting under layer. Mind you black is fine as it goes with everything

Happy running!

Ooh a purple pair, yes yes please! Sadly black and white was all on offer but if I get on ok with these I will get a second pair with colour. I am getting used to how tight I need these laces to be for my feet, hopefully I will learn soon!
