Shoes and blisters!

Hi does a blister like shown mean my shoes are too small? I bought 1.5 bigger at start of lockdown so couldn’t have a proper fitting or gait analaysis. They have been fine up until this week so not sure what it is. I’m wearing more miles socks.

I have re laced my shoes to accommodate a wider foot

Thoughts?

Thank you!

Poor you, no fun. 1 ½ bigger seems quite big, I wonder if your foot is moving too much but that wouldn't account for why it's only now causing blisters. May be different temperature for running in agitating your toes. I hope you find a solution, hopefully it's just a blip. Happy running 🤗

Thanks

Its very strange as i would have thought it would have happened early on, Very annoying but just putting a plaster over it and cracking on!

No because you wouldn’t get a blister there if they were too small. Try locking your laces and maybe injinji socks. You still need to tie them well so your foot doesn’t slip. 1.5 sizes up sounds a lot.

Thanks. I will have a go at that, My foot doesn't feel like its moving around that much and I have managed 7 weeks without any blister! I have just bout a thumb width between my big toe and end of the shoe.

Trial and error I guess!

Thinking similarly to others - more likely too big than too small I fear :-(

Well I’m going to blow the size thing out of the water, I run in shoes 2 sizes bigger than my normal shoe size and they’re fine - a lot to do with different brands and comfort of fit i reckon - I don’t get bruised toes or black toenails any more.

I’ve had little blisters like that, when you run your feet and toes are doing a natural clawing action, and this looks like toes rubbing against each other, which might mean you need more room in the toe box and good secure lacing on the mid foot, I’d try the injinji socks if they bother you or are painful - mine aren’t, but I do keep my toenails short - I only tend to get them on long distance - which would mean my feet swell, and slip about a bit.... if I haven’t got my lacing secure on the mid foot....

Hope you get it sorted

Thanks! I started with a shoe 0.5 bigger and got black toenails! So I invested Ina. Decent pair of shoes! It’s a minefield! I did get it on my longest run to date so that maybe something to do with it. I have ordered a pair of injinji socks so I will see how I get in! My next run is Sunday and should be a longer one. Will see how I go!

Other than this blister I am loving my running journey!

Thanks

i have some gel toe seperators (spelling?) found on ebay dead cheap.

i take a 6.5 size but my running trainers are 8`s.

i think it is just a matter of changing a little thing at a time to see what suits x

You can get running socks that are like gloves, with bits for each toe to fit into.

Agree with Madge and others comments that a 'clawing' action from a roomy shoe may be the cause.

Possibly consider changing the shoe insoles to ones suited to your feet. Look for insoles designed for arched (or flat) feet.

Try putting a bit of microporous tape on your toe before your next run
