Following the advice of a couple of friends on here, I decided that today I'd do a more hilly run. The road between here and the next village is up and down like a switchback so I set off up that. It wasn't that busy with traffic but the cars and vans that were on it were going fast. ๐ฎ In a couple of places there are blind bends so in those places I decided I'd be safer on the 'wrong' side of the road so at least they could see me. A few times I had to jump onto the (high) verge to get out of the way. ๐ฎ
Well, I did it, managed to run up the hills (and coast down!) in a slowish time. I won't be running that road again but it's given me confidence that I *might* be able to do the 'undulating' 10k that I'm thinking of entering in 2 weeks. I'm going to try a different Parkrun on Saturday, a more hilly one than my usual one, and see how that goes! ๐

I like it - strategic! But that road doesn't sound runner friendly at all. Although it was a sound enough plan. Hope the parkrun helps you feel even more ready for those hills
Thank you, writing a diary has been a great incentive to keep up the running while on holiday, although the landscape and weather has also been very encouraging!
I've got a 10k in two weeks too. Like you I've done a few hilly runs, but they are not my favourite. Last two runs this week were hilly 10ks so I'm opting for a shorter flatter run this morning, but might include some speed intervals (which I detest).
