COVID finally struck our household this week, with my son unfortunately testing positive, despite having had his first vaccination. Mr D-d and I are all clear. Thankfully our son hasn’t been too poorly with it, and his very mild symptoms have been limited to a slight headache and a change in his sense of smell and taste. Such a shame, as he has been working as a record keeper with me at our vaccination hub and we have been so thorough and so careful. How he isn’t bouncing off his bedroom walls by now astounds me. Self-isolation would send me potty!!
Needless to say, my opportunities for running this week have been zero, as I have been providing on demand room service (his appetite has not been affected 🙄). Today though, Mr D-d was able to work from home, so after my morning shift at the vaccination hub, I headed out for a run with my dog Isla for company. We walked for 5 minutes either side of our run, which was a consecutive 3k - go Isla 🐾 😄!! Our last outing together was our first attempt at Jeffing, and was very successful. Today however I just wanted to press the button and just run, uninterrupted if possible, so I was chuffed to bits Isla kept going for a full 3k. She did look at me and slow down after 1k as if to say , “What really?! No walking? You want me to keep running? Are you mad?” After some persuasion she picked up her paws 🐾 a bit and kept on going. Her run is a very dainty trot alongside my jog, until she sees a squirrel that is, then she would be off like a shot if it wasn’t for the lead! 🐿
As you can imagine, Isla is now a very pooped pooch, stretched out on the rug fast asleep. I am quite sure she’ll wake for her dinner though……
As for me…. I am refreshed by my run. I hadn’t realised quite how much I had needed it. It wasn’t far, but it was just the right run for today.
Happy running all 😊🏃♀️🐾
