I had planned to run my first ever 10k yesterday - had the route planned, had a 2 hour window in the afternoon, all sorted....Well almost. I could feel a slight tightness in my left calf & decided to be sensible & rest it an extra day. Besides it was blowing a gale & I don't love running that much!
Instead of running I went to the running shop with the sole purpose of buying the Garmin fr35. They only had one in stock in the colour I didn't want - but patience is not my strong point. I decided I could live with the lime green colour, said to the guy "it's on John Lewis's website for £159...". He said "no problem, it's your for £159 - actually no I'll do better than that, 15% off, so £152!" (Support your local running shop!!)
Wanted to go out this afternoon - couldn't, but then just went for it at 6:15, Garmin on the wrist - going for negative splits. And I did it! I ran 10k. Honestly I can't believe it. The fact that I did it in 58:43 is an unbelievable bonus. Would have preferred to run it in the countryside, or in a forest - but hopefully I'll get that opportunity soon
I almost managed a nice negative split pattern - the 9thk spoiled the pattern, but I'm really pleased that overall the 2nd 5k was 2 mins faster than the first 5k.
Love the Garmin btw! (And the colour is growing on me - the watch is so useful, the colour doesn't matter!)
Special thanks to ju-ju- for your 10k programme, it was brilliant. Just perfect for a busy lifestyle & loved all the wee video clips & things to think about. Really appreciate you doing this for us. Thanks again. It was a great way to get to 10k
