So I'm officially in training for my first 10k race and I've done loads of reading and have come up with a plan that works for me.
The aim is three to four runs a week, including a 10k ish at an easy pace, some speedwork and fun run supplemented with Pilates and strength work at home.
So I did an easy 5k on Monday morning with no issues, planned the long run for weds but work got in the way so I gave myself a day off and planned again for Thurs.
The weather was bright, despite the forecast and I set out after work, noting that the legs felt stronger for the rest.
I always give myself leeway with the long run but it was a good one and I made it to 10k enjoyably. I had such a rush of pride and happiness at the end that was quite overwhelming! ππ
I would have loved to parkrun today but had a late night watching some local bands lasr night,so went out for another 5k this afternoon and did some fartleks around the playing field, I feel powerful sprinting these days!
It wasn't until I got home that I realised how intimidating I found running with lots of people around a few weeks ago and today I was sprinting past loads of footballers, dog walkers without a care!
Tomorrow I'm planning a 4k very easy which will be the first time running consecutive days then two days off.
I'm loving running at the moment and hope everyone else is enjoying their running challenges too, big or small. πππββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
