My non running weeks

Hi all,

Happy new year to everyone, as the title suggests I have not been running, unfortunately I am still on the injury couch. My Achilles is still giving me lots of trouble and I have finally bitten the bullet and have not tried running on it for at least 2 weeks. I find it starts to feel better then I run then it hurts then I can't run and so on. So here I am on the couch (well not actually on the couch) as I am doing more cycling and cross training to try and keep some conditioning. I am going to actually get some professional help (no not that kind) from a sports physio to see if they can get me fixed as time is marching on, I am not getting any younger and I am really frustrated that I had made such good progress that it has almost all been undone!

Life moves on and I am only competing against myself (which is worse as I am my own worst enemy) so you live and learn. If you have an Achilles problem get it sorted out!!

I hope that you are all pounding the streets for me and that you are injury/sick free and wish you all a fantastic running year. As Arnie says, 'I will be back'!

Really sorry your Achilles is still giving you trouble. I think visiting a sports physio is a great idea - they really are the experts in my opinion. Hope they are able to help you get things sorted so that you can get back to your running. 🙂

Oh no, Mat, sorry to read this. I hope you can get it sorted out - if it keeps grumbling on and never quite heals, definitely time for professional help.

Happy New Year to you and I look forward to reading that you have exercises to do and that you can start to run short distances before building up again :)

Thanks Anniemurph , frustration is the key word here but hopefully I will be up and running soon.

Good idea to have someone look at it, Mat and probably also a very good idea to give it a proper rest. Hope it gets better soon!
