Happy healthy week to you all
Strange week this week, getting back to it all after holiday. Started great at the beginning of the week but tapered out a bit after Thursday. I think I started off a bit aggressively and ran out of steam. Should be in a better place this week.
Haven't been here for a little while - I have been quietly getting on with my HR training - up to 5 days per week. Except that this past weekend, I was trailing my HR chest strap and accidentally closed it in the car door as I shut the door. Now it doesn't work. Could be a broken wire in the strap - or it could even be coincidental and be a flat battery in the monitor. Haven't had a chance to look at it yet - Garmin does not make getting at the battery very easy with the tiniest of tiniest Phillips heads screws holding the cover on. Need a jewellers toolkit to be able to get the battery out - bit silly really because batteries are replaceable so why make them so hard to get at??
Went camping this past weekend - and went for an early morning run down a narrow dirt road, very misty - LOTS of kangaroos and beautiful little Wallabies were out for the early morning pickings and made way for me as I went down the road. I could almost hear them saying - "what is this coming down the road? - never seen one of them (a lone runner) before!! "
Pity about the Garmin. I hope you can fix it. What a nuisance!
Your trail run sounds wonderful. Kangaroos are a bit ruddy scary though aren't they. Massive, huge powerful creatures. Imagine one of those chasing you. Crikey!
We have wallabies here in Derbyshire. They are a long ways from home but have adapted well to living out in the cold and wet having, escaped from a local zoo apparently
Theres wallabies in Derbyshire ? I never knew that, Blimey !
Do you see them whilst youre out on your runs misswobble ? I would have to do a double take if I saw one , fancy that , that's just mad ! xxx
Week 4 r1, first run with podcast with Laura, wish she had joined me earlier she makes quite a difference. Didn't think I would be able to do the 5 minute runs but it was good, even looking forward to the next one
I'm on a bit of a high today. I think I ran 10k this morning for the first time in my life. If not, it was very very near it. I was meant to be doing Week 4 Run 1 of the B210k thing, which is three lots of run for 18 minutes, walk for 1 minute, but I just kept going at the end as I was feeling so good. Unfortunately, although I had pressed "record run" on my newly downloaded Strava app, before burying my phone in my running belt, I didn't realize my GPS wasn't on so it didn't work. But I am just SO HAPPY!
Only 3 runs this week, but after a pretty pathetic start on Monday I got a couple of good runs using the bridge to 10k podcasts. The first 2 runs from week 2. Felt reasonably strong on both of them and enjoyed running according to instructions again. It seems to make me less likely to stop, I have to dig deep to get there and that makes me feel good afterwards. Looking forward to this week's running aswell, it's got a lot colder and I have some time off, so lots off running and hiking!
What an interesting thread! Wallabies and kangaroos! We have brightly coloured parakeets down south, not sure where they came from.
The weather has changed suddenly and drastically here, I'm now about to go from moaning about the heat to moaning about the cold....
Weather has changed here too but I like it much better like this!
Had a fabulous 13k run tonight, literally ran multiple different loops around the village, lovely and cool, getting dark, good music.....nice and slow
A hard parkrun yesterday, tried to go as fast as I could but just got huffy and puffy, I want to like parkrun but realised I'm much happier plodding around on my own, doing longer distances at a slower pace....does anyone else feel like this?
