So, this morning I woke up with the very sudden and clear realization that I was finished with running. I thought of the scene in the film when Forrest Gump is running along and then realizes he is done with it. And I thought, "That's me. I don't need to run any more. I'm done with running."
I also realized that I was very tired as I'd had a long working day yesterday and not enough sleep. So I went back to sleep for an hour or so and then got up and...
... went running!
B210k Week Three Run One in the bag.
And I got home to a message from a friend who'd driven by me to say that she thinks I should join her at her running club (Perth Roadrunners). And I said I might just do that....

Yay! What a difference a snooze makes ;-).
Great story Well done for getting out there and doing it.
Maybe you need a change of mindset? I have a friend who is a very keen gym goer - and she really hits it hard at her gym with her fellow gym junkies. I think she is a bit of a masochist So she only runs once per week at parkrun - when she first was introduced to parkrun she also was very keen on that . She strove to keep running as fast as she could ( as most do) and finally broke the 30 minute 5K barrier. But, she has never been able to do that again - and she became frustrated at her weekly attempts to do it again. - and was thinking of giving the running away, even though she kind of enjoys it (once per week) and enjoys the people at parkrun. Her whole family goes there.
Now she has cottoned on to a mindset that I suggested to her. Stop thinking about running as "running" - think of it as getting a cardio workout. These days - and supported by my HR training programme- when I go out the door (5 times per week), I don't go "running" , I go out for a session of cardio. I could do that in many ways - maybe shadow boxing? maybe cycling - but I choose running because it is easy and cheap to do. Problem for me has been that running leads to "racing" - or at least, running is largely a pace based activity for most. For everybody at parkrun, that finish time is the all important thing. I am now officially done with finish times and paces !! HR zone and time spent inside that zone are my most important metrics now This mindset has taken a lot of weight off me and my friend thanked me for it last week too
I can't imagine feeling no need to run anymore. Scary thought! Glad it was just you being tired and that you are even considering joining a club. I am a club runner myself and absolutely recommend it.
I am not going to join the club till I finish B210k because I have limited free time and need all my weekly runs for that training plan. After that I think I will although I am worried about how far/fast they go! I'm so used to running alone...
I know what you mean. You can't do both. I chose to drop the B210K programme and just run with my club three times a week instead. I think I am making a lot of progress even though I am not following a programme... I have a really good trainer who is able to challenge me every time we run and my running mates are supportive and lovely people of all ages and sizes. So great! I hope you decide to give your local club a go. Maybe it's great. If it isn't, just move on.
