What do you thinks about the 'Less fuss' funerals that seem popular currently?

I think many folks don't want a Religious Church Service or cannot afford that type of funeral, so these far cheaper alternatives seem welcome or are they?

Whatever is decided I think should be in character with the deceased, as well as one’s available means. If they were religious I think a church like the Salvation Army could help by taking one’s means into account. My father loved classical music so a sister arranged a concert in his memory in her small town. No idea what that set her back but there was a good turnout, & my father would have loved it.

Thank youClarrisa

I agree especially as quite a number of people don't talk or have any written requests for their funeral.

Thank you too for the tip about the Salvation Army, anything that helps others and something I didn't know x

What a lovely idea to have a concert, that must have been a very memorable day.

I'm liking the idea myself Kenny kenster1 and have made some enquiries too!

It's seems to appeal to me, though I never thought it would.

That's a very caring attitude Kenny kenster1 and another reason I think these cheaper alternatives are such a n excellent idea, the cost of funeral is such a huge expense.

Hi Chloe, one of my friends went to a non religious funeral where they had a cardboard coffin and no hymns and they had silence to think about the person and my friend said they like others felt uncomfortable.

one of my friends had a non religious one as well friends and family and the guys conducting the funeral even threw in the odd expletive.

Really Kenny kenster1 ?

Well they must have felt able to do that and maybe this reflected the person who died, whatever it was, seems it was the right decision for them and that's good x

Hmm... that surprises me Hidden

Maybe it was because the silence/ reflecting period was too long or it could be the stillness was too much, some do find silence uncomfortable, not me I have to say!
