recently advertised 'No service/non attendance funerals', They are hugely cheaper than traditional funerals.

I'm pretty sure that is what I am going to do, the time has come to sort these things out, as much as I can't bare the thought of it, it has to be done.

morning Chloe, in the pandemic I booked & paid for my husband & I to have a Pure Cremation. So when I die I’ll be taken off cremated & then my ashes will be returned to my family & hopefully scattered in the sea. I hope my friends & family will have a get together in a pub with happy music. I hope they raise a glass or two & remember only happy times. Then I really hope my children will get on with their lives & only remember me with love & laughter not sadness or regrets.

I'm sure your family will raise a glass Caza !

I think these companies are so much more affordable. Funerals can be such a financial burden on family members. Unless your religious of course.

I have have decided this is for me, so will get this sorted in the next few weeks.

I have recently purchased a’ click n collect’ funeral , as my daughter called it! lol, no disrespect, just her way of dealing with it. She struggled so much between her dad dying and his funeral, I don’t want a fuss and ceremony and so the no attendance, ashes by post is the best for her when I go. And my wish. A lot of these direct funerals are very reasonable if you are planning an immediate cremation and tend to go up by £300-£500 if bought in advance. My parents have both purchased the traditional attended ceremonies and cremation. I think it’s only fair these days to those left behind that, if financially possible, you plan and pay ahead for your own ‘grand finale’. I wept sorting mine out but glad I did. Take care 🦊x

I agree, they’re so expensive & a burden on those left behind if there isn’t enough money in the kitty.

I love that click & collect

Oh Bingofox007 you did make me smile!

I must admit I was in a very odd mood when I was deciding what to do. It's a difficult subject but one that needs addressing, so I'm glad that decision has now been made, it's a subject that seems to get brushed under the carpet, relief all round.

You are so right Chloe, I really must get mine sorted, because I'm not sure my son would be able to handle it all.

Cheers, Midori

I don’t know why these things cannot be discussed openly. I get some very odd looks when I tell people in conversation that I’m not having a funeral. I have told my family who in a nice way made a joke of it.

I know what you mean @Caza but it's just uncomfortable, I've been dreading it but has to be done x

I don’t remember feeling uncomfortable about it 🤷‍♀️. Think more what happens if the company dies before I do!!

I don’t feel uncomfortable about telling people if that’s what the conversation is about. Nor will I explain just say it’s what I want.

I have no fear of dying or talking about it. I don’t know why just the way it is.

If you’re not sure Chloe then don’t do it atm x

It's just me Caza but I have had the conversation with family just now so that part

is out of the way and I'm pleased I have.

My father in law requested no one to attend but it was still a car, wooden coffin and carried into crematorium, that was 2014. He’d have definitely had the simpler option available now. We only knew when it was tho as my daughter worked there in the office at the time. 🦊x

Yes, that's a choice I'd make too. Downfall is you don't usually know in advance x

I think aquamation will be an alternative way soon. Desmond Tutu had that. You still get remains to scatter like cremation I believe but only a couple of places in uk offer that. I wouldn’t like it, despite being deceased. 🦊x

Ooh no, I don’t think this is for me Bingofox007 in fact I’ve never heard of it, must look this up but not before bedtime as I won’t sleep 🫣

Oh dear Bingofox007

Aquamation is exactly what I thought it might be and definitely not for me! So glad left it until today to check but some may prefer this x
