Well Doctor prescribed but told me take for 3 months if no change come back and see me. Also has ordered a sleep study.
After 2nd day of dosing have throat tightness and last night so hard to sleep as I couldn’t breathe. Kept doing breathing exercise and propped up pillows. Finally fell asleep. Scary.
It made breathing worse. Anyone else ever have this issue? Two puffs of 2.5mg once a day.

Yes it made me hyperventilate about 6/8 hours after taking it. I tried it 5 times and it happened every time. I was awake all night it wore off after 24 hours.
Thanks for the reply. I am unsure about this inhaler as albuetrol has no effect on me either. Even the doctor saw this from the spirometry test. He even stated he isn’t sure what is causing my symptoms but blood work over the past few years shows slight CO2 retention and cause at this point unknown
I have sever COPD and sever ASTHMA and I use Spiriva and Symbicort.
Spiriva is for the COPD and the Symbicort is for my ASTHMA.
Spiriva works great for me. You have to gargle after each inhale usage, hope your doing that. Never had a problem with it but if you do I'd contact your doctor. Everybody is different Spiriva is great for me.
I used to use it but my pulmonologist changed to Anoro which I find much better for. I did not find it too bad most of the time but sometimes i did have the same symptoms as you describe. Cannot remember if it has Steroid in it but any inhaler with steroid causes me to get severe oral thrush so i am a bit paranoid about gargling with at least water but ideally i use a good mouthwash.
I have never heard of this, but you might be having a reaction to something in the medication and you should return to your doctor. Is there any mention about reactions in the paperwork>
I took Spiriva for 10 years until my medication was upgraded recently.I certainly did not have any adverse reaction during that period. However when I was first introduced to the inhaler it did take a few days to get over a slight feeling of dizziness.
It does not help much but you are clearly having an allergic reaction and your GP should be made aware-there are alternatives.
Thanks my doctor prescribed but stated if it didn’t help in 3 months to discontinue and follow up in six months after sleep study test. I guess after reviewing my labs Ct chest scans and spirometry which I guess were not bad he is trying to rule things out before looking interested other things. My blood work does show slight retention of Carbon Dioxide. So he knows I am not imagining this. I do not gasp for air or have rapid breathing but cannot seem to get a deep breath when I try. It literally comes when it wants to. I have seen so many doctors in the past few years it is so tiring. I may go the Chiropractor route to see if I somehow did something to my chest muscles and see if the muscle is restricting????
I sure hope so, this has been a long road and so many tests to find the answer. Pulmonologist has approved and given me the referral and up to me to schedule. Being on Medicare now is a big challenge but it won’t hold me back from paying to get an answer.
I have recently (five months ago) changed to Anoro from Relvar Incruse and Ellipta. This was at my own request as I didn’t think the steroid was doing me any good. It’s early days as far as infections go but my breathing is definitely no worse and within a week of stopping the steroid I felt “lighter”. Rubbish description but it’s the best I can do. I’ve never believed I had asthma overlap despite reversibility test and I think I may have been correct.
I googled and read about spiriva and ventolin. I used to take spiriva but doctor changed my treatment to a nebulizer. I am now taking ventolin. I use it to stop coughing, and it helps, but I don't use it every day. I use a 3% saline solution with a nebulizer and an aerobika with aeroeclipse twice a day and it helps me get rid of mucuous. I have bronchiectasis, COPD, and asthma, but am just in Stage 1, so it isn't severe. I sleep with my head elevated, too.
