I was just given spiriva respimat today . My dr. Said to try it and stop taking the tudorza press air. he also gave me Breo elliptia to take instead of symbicort. I will start tomorrow. I am hoping to hear from anyone using these drugs, and how well they work for you. Nay, or yea. Any comments would be appreciated. Barbara

I have used Spiriva for for years with no problems as have dozens here. Type Spiriva into the search box at the top. It is a frequent question here.

Regards Rib

I have been on both elliptia and spiriva for about 18 months, I am going to see my nurse soon as I don't think they work for me.

But what works for one....may not work for another.

As RibvanRey said type into search box.

Hope you have a good day.

I have been on Spiriva for just 50 days (having very recently been diagnosed with COPD) and I have to say it has helped transform my life. I've gone from having to take 6 stops on a 0.4 mile walk to completing a 1.5 mile coastal walk with a huge slope on Sunday in that 50 days. Weight loss and training also help but my SOB is now well under control. Understand it won't work for all but do embrace it and give it a try

Hi I have been prescribed Spiriva too but find it doesn't help me at all and just makes me cough more so I don't take it now. I know I should because it is a longer lasting bronchilator and helps strengthen the lungs. x

Hi Barbara, I took it a few years ago but had to stop as it made my mouth so dry my lips stuck to my teeth, i could feel the back of my mouth sticking to itself and i couldn't speak. What it does very well is dry up mucus secretion so for some of those who have very little mucus it can make dreadful dryness.

Having said that most people I've read speaking about spiriva here find it works well so i hope it works for you :)

I have taken Spiriva respimat for a year now and find it very good. CONS. recommended it because it does not leave any residue on the tongue. Does it job excellently. Sorry but no nothing about the other drug. Best wishes barnowl

Hello,

I take Spiriva, it's great 24 hour inhaler basically for COPD. also I use Albuteral for emergency inhalant. My VA doctor just put me on Symbicort also, I start tomorrow. It's to calm my lungs down to control the wheezing. I'm not liking Symbicort as it's a steroid, and I lost 2 uncles with steroids but I trust my VA doctor and do alot of reading up on what in taking

I've had very good luck with Spiriva there weeks that it was all I needed. Some kind of climate change changed it 2 weeks ago thats all otherwise that's all I would take.

Good luck with it

Hi Barbara, I have been taking Spiriva for 8 1/2 years, and find it to be the most helpful COPD medication I have ever been on , bar none. I swear I can feel it work almost instantly. Kind Regards, judg69
