I was going to paint a spring flower painting. I could not get as I wished, really bad day yesterday - My Nuclear Scan took forever - Three and a half wait time and scan. waiting for taxi to come home an hour pluss traveling time there and back.
That is just aggravation - I ended up with a large raised bruise where they injected the tracer - not a one off because my last TURBT my vein was popped- I am starting to wonder.
So I blacked the canvas and decided to paint an abstract garden which I have done twice before, however this is different I decided to paint this different. So Abstract Moonlit Garden came to be, with a couple of small waterfalls.

This one is perfect Ern.love the moonlight and the waterfalls, stunning scenery.i like the tilt of the flowers to me it looks like they're leaning over to talk to ea other ( my imagination!).. you must be exhausted after yesterday.hope u feel better tomorrow x
I agree with Patk1. I just love the colours Ern. The more you go surreal, the more i interesting the painting becomes. This is quite different from your signature pieces but still has the hallmark of Ern! More please. I'm really sorry too read of the health troubles. How you can paint at this level is beyond me. We are so thankful that you share them with us.
Thank you David - I used to paint more like this, you can let imagination run riot. I find painting helps - I will up the surreal a bit, Ithink I missread people on this. Hopfully yesterday was my last appointment for two months, bar my eye but that is just a 15 minute drive,
I know what you mean about bruising. I went for a blood test at the hospital on Monday. The HCA tried 5 times before having success. The place she tried first now has a large purple bruise, measuring about 1” by 3/4 of an inch in the crook of my elbow!
I’m really bad at giving blood. My veins are definitely wavy - they wave goodbye when they sense a needle coming towards them! If each person could only try twice I’d end up having so many appointments! In 2023 I was in hospital after collapsing and being on the floor for over 24 hours, that’s another story, but I ended up with a large pressure sore on my left hip. It took 18 attempts to get a cannula in that in the end I had a central line put in!
Sorry you had such a rotten time getting that scan. I'm amazed that you can still paint after that. The result is as fine as always- a different shaped composition- all long lines instead of curves. Intriguing-where is the water going, what colour are the trees by daylight? xxx
Thank you Chris , I think this ranked as one of worst experences, staff was good but sat for so long is no joke. I think yesterday paining helped , The water well could have had any flow anyone wanted - The trees once lightI would say a darking green, Despite I nonrally have light Green or Pink. xxx
So sorry you had such a trying day yesterday Ern and hope you feel better today. I had my bloods done on Monday and the big hard needles really hurt and leave a nasty bruise. This is due to cut backs at my surgery, they only order 3 butterfly needles now. I asked rheumatology if i can go there instead but she said no I am under my gp for bloods. I am surprised you can paint after such a long day and with a popped vein as well x
Thank you Izb1 - Gosh yes it was trying, I have had nly one like it, when i went for a pet Scan at same hospital. I have been bruised a bit having blood taken also. my first pop vein geting a canula in my hand was worse, when i got home - Popped veins are not good at all. I started to paint a Spring Flower painting , but abandoned that to do this instead as concentrating n a field of flowers takes more concentration. A well over and done with now x
Oh Ern that is a long day, bless you. Beautiful piece of art you’ve created, I love the waterfalls, so peaceful. Thanks for sharing. I’ve been held back by pulmonary rehab due to my falls because of my blood pressure dropping when I stand up, unfortunately nothing can be done about it so looks like I won’t be going now.
It’s a subarachnoid haemorrhage that caused it unfortunately so no I’m stuck with it. I’ll just do some online courses and community physio are coming out to help me too so I’ll get there.
Thank you so much Wendy - I was offered pulmonary rehab but refused as that was just one part of my health and was not sure could have done or put my heart in that, You don;t want to be falling Wendy - I get Low Blood pressure, but not as bad now for some reason, I hope you get at least better soon Wendy and you are able to enjoy Spring and Summer , we have been a long time waiting. Tale lots of care . xx
You are a wonder Ern! To go through a day like that and still be able to paint anything, never mind something so beautiful, is extraordinary. I love the way you've painted what looks to me like a Lavender hedge, very effective love it. Hope you recover from your ordeal soon. xx
Thank you Paper Queen - Was glad to be able to do this - was going to do a full spring garden but was not up to that, The edgewas done with Dark Purple and white, is like Lavender - I have woke up today more refreshed abd doubt I will be going there any time soon. xx
I'm sorry you had such a miserable time yesterday. I hope you are feeling rested and a bit better today. Thank you for sharing yet another beautiful painting. This one has a gorgeous ethereal quality which really draws you in . Keep experimenting and look after yourself.
I hope you’re feeling better this morning Ern , the hospital appointments can be gruelling can’t they and you seem to really go through the mill . I hope a good nights sleep has helped. I’m loving the moonlit garden , particularly the sky and water , your colour choices, the way they’re blended and work together as always are brilliant x
My goodness Ern, I’m sorry to hear about your nightmare appointment but hope you’ve recovered somewhat now. What a stunning painting to come from such duress! One of your best yet in my view. The colours are lovely xx
