Oh thank you for replying! Could you tell me more about your symptoms ?I have persistent nausea, pain in left side abdomen stomach gurgling.been to docs loads of times they keep telling me it's anxiety, but can't understand how that can make me feel so ill.I'm 68 years old and never had this before, had endoscopy, stool test, blood tests all fine, think docs are fed up with me now,but I'm so worried I have something awful.thanks again.XX
Well to me that sounds like IBS, I feel like my intestines are spasming sometimes too. gurgling alot of the time too, depending on where the food gets blocked will depend on where the pain is. If you gently lay down and feel in the area of the pain, usually theres a lumpy bit, where the foods a bit stuck, you can gently help it on its way by massaging that area.
You can use peppermint oil tablets, the doc gave me mintec ones, or you can get colpermin available over the counter, make sure you take them when it says though, on an empty stomach, as they are supposed to get to the intestines before releasing.
hope that helps
Thank you for your reply.do you ever feel nauseous with IBS ,this seems to be one of my biggest problems, had so many trips to GP and they all say the same, anxiety!can't really see how that can make me feel so ill. Thanks for your advice.
Yes, nausious, is one of the symptoms, I think IBS is either due to a food allergy or anxiety or both.
try the tablets I suggested and see if it gets a little better.
Also keep in touch with the doctors and see if he will give you something for it.
Also maybe try and get referred to therapy for the anxiety, CBT is the one.
I do wish you well

Anxiety can make you feel really ill,
Thank you for your quick response, that's really kind of you. Have taken some colpermin tonight, already had some in along with buscopan, mebeverine ,ginger pills etc, tried just about everything. I feel so isolated in this as I live alone,my husband died 11 years ago,my family live away and I don't like to bother them, but I'm really worried.Have stuck my fingers down my throat earlier to try and make myself sick but nothing happened. Very frightened at the minute, this seems very severe for IBS. Thank you again.xx
See how you get on, if your worried out of hrs doc might come see you, or nhs direct
Hope you feel better

Hope you are feeling better I too suffer from IBS and the constant pain and upset stomach can make you feel incredibly ill which then feeds the anxiety! It's a vicious cycle of IBS feeding anxiety, anxiety feeding IBS and so it goes on! At least your test results are clear but it can take weeks for your tummy to settle Sounds like you are doing all you can with medication but also need to watch your diet! All I can say is, I feel your pain Take care,Pat x
Thankyou for your response.did you have any tests before you were diagnosed? What are your symptoms? Hope you don't mind me asking, but I'm beginning to get very worried as I've had this on and off for 5months,and actually more on than off. It seems to be taking over my life now and I'm becoming more anxious by the day. Nausea hardly ever seems to be mentioned in IBS symptoms and I have that a lot, do you experience that?sorry to ask so many questions, suppose I'm just looking for reassurance really! Thank you again and hope to hear from you soon.xx
